It’s Valentine’s Day! My customer order a set of Amway For Ladies supplements from me to send to his girlfriend. Very thoughtful gift and pay me money to wrap the gift, nowadays boys are very thoughtful n spend money on health supplements than flowers. So after sending the supplements to his girlfriend, my hubby n I meet up for dinner at this restaurant as he HIGHLY recommended. I don’t like pork actually but since it’s valentine day, ok then just try it. Staff service are good and polite with proper hand gestures when deliver food on table. No black face when I always ask for cabbage n soup refill eventually after 3 rounds of refill I was K.O ?. I definitely recommend this place to you guys. Will not reccomend if looking for authentic tonkatsu I will have to admit, the food looks appetizing. I'll give them that. However, taste wise, their "miso" sauce downright tastes like really sweet dark soy sauce and the cheese tonkatsu was pretty salty for some reason... Texture wise, for a tonkatsu, the skin was just too crisp, almost like it was "cereal pork". Not the usual tonkatsu-experience, I suppose... The tonjiru soup and sides were okay, I liked that there was furikake for the white rice too. Props for having a brown rice option also.

Pork Katsu is really thick and flavourful. The Cheese katsu was okay. The entire meal feels very complete with salad, miso souo and rice. Miso soup had decent ingredients and was definitely one of the better soup out there. Price point is reasonable but i find that the portions was abit small. Got the ice barley tea(taste like roasted green tea) and was free flow. Overall quite a good place to satisfy ur katsu cravings

Discovered this place by chance as I was looking for a place for lunch. I wouldn't say it's the best tonkatsu I've had (I think jw360 is hard to beat) but for the price, it's really value for money. As some other reviews have stated, the pork cutlet could be a little juicier (but it's not dry by any means). Love the free flow of cabbage, rice and tonjru soup (not plain miso soup!). Also liked the little touches like the pickles and the sauces. Worth a try. I'd certainly come back to try the other stuff! (And special mention to the short haired staff who served me - really friendly!)

The restaurant is right after the entrance if u enter from the taxi drop off point. It serves up a nice piece of loin but somehow had a little too much salt on the batter. The free flow salad, rice and soup makes the hungry kids really happy. Overall a great dining experience!

Mediocre and overpriced tonkatsu place. Maruhachi is better in everything including the price. Onkei focuses only on katsu style dishes, which is indeed a plus. The sets they serve are well composed and come with great sauces (sesame sauce for greens and sweet and sour sauce). However, the quality of ingredients is much below expectations, especially considering the high price (price in the menu doesn't include GST). Panko crust is oily and wasn't perfectly cooked. The meat wasn't melting in my mouth. Quite a mediocre experience overall.

Decided to try out Onkei with my friend since we were around the area! You would be able to spot the restaurant quite easily with its cute mascot at the entrance. We ordered the Mentaiko Rosu-katsu and Curry Rosu-katsu sets and were surprised when the food arrived as the portions were quite huge. The set meal comes with white or brown rice, Tonjiru (Pork and Vegetable Miso) Soup, Japanese pickles and shredded cabbage for the Mentaiko Rosu-katsu. For our sides, we got the fried gyoza and Ebi Kakiage. I like that the Tonkatsu there is really crunchy and juicy – the meat is tender and has a right proportion of fats and meat. For me, I like dipping my Tonkatsu with some of that sesame sauce which Onkei provides because it gives it a hint of sesame fragrance and sweetness! Great place if you are looking for something crispy and filling for your meal!

I came to know this place through the Burpple app and was here for dinner with my hubby. Food is nice overall. The dishes are not too oily and I like that they provide brown rice as an alternative, if you do not want white rice. The dips go very well. Waiting time is a little long for the food, probably around 15 to 20mins as it was dinner peak hour. I find the prices a little expensive even though I got a discount with my Burpple app subscription. It will be great if the set include drinks / tea similar to the Japanese restaurant next door, which will make the deal more attractive. Date: 15 Feb 2022.
