Penang Home Made Beef Ball - 144 Upper Bukit Timah Rd

DO YOU BEEF? If you do, please take a little trip along the awesome "Downtown MRT Line" to "Beauty World" station. Not my first time at "Beauty World Centre" but my first time eating at this stall at the semi-open air food center at level 4. What have I missed out all this time? A power pack punch of different beef goodness for 5 (Singapore) dollars. How much is 5 dollars worth now? Once considered "expensive" for a hawker store but can be considered in recent times as the norm. Soup is tasty and does not taste like it has been "enhanced" by many different other extra condiments or coloring. Easy to drink i finished all. Balls are not as big as expected, but pack the same roughness as you may expect from a home-made ball (see my photo). Sliced Meat - the texture of the most "ordinary" sliced meat is what struck me the most. It is not "hard to chew" like all other stores i eaten before. My guess is maybe it has been "starched" just a little (like for some fish soup stall) but whichever way it is good for the jaw. Tendon - it's soft but its not soggy soft. Color is kinda Translucent. Others parts - Tasty. I finished 100% of every item (even the fat) for the first time. Because everything goes so well together. There is no "difficult" part to bite or the "smell" of internal parts. Chili- 3 types, green chili, standard red beef chili sauce and a darker intensity chili sauce. All goes well with the beef, soup and meat. They do sell other items (see menu in my photo) like dry, braised and wok-fried styles. ALL for 5 dollars. I am definitely coming back when my tummy craves for beef =) DO YOU BEEF?

Hor fun has wok hei, and big portion. But quite little beef, no egg or vege. Taste is so so.

Beef balls are tender but beef slices are hard to chew. But soup n chilli are nice

Not that fantastic and nothing much to eat but bits of meat with lots of fats which were inedible to me. The soup was just salty and oily. The aunty asked me if I wanted bean sprouts and parsley. I said yes but Actually there’s only like a few strands of sprouts and tiny bits of parsley that don’t make a difference. For $5 I guess I cannot complain. Times are tough for hawkers. But I was left unsatisfied. Went off to find other food later.

Beef soup packs a strong flavourful “beefy” taste. Not for the light palates Beef brisket are so tender and well marinated that shows hours of hard work have gone into the making of it. Beef balls have a great bite to it and taste deliciously tender too. Noodles and sauce are average, main focus on beef related Chili sauce are good too very delicious

I should have read the reviews before ordering. Not sure how this is name Penang beef? I have not tasted in Penang, so cannot make any comparison. Mixture of tendon, meats and slices & balls. Meat has layers of fats. Tendon is normal, too small pieces to make any judgment. Soup is a bit blend. $5 is above average based on the serving.

What a gem tucked in an upper floor of Beauty World Center. Beef was cooked for long hours, thus tendon was soft and savoury. Soup was full of umami. I could not help but drink all of the soup and did not get bloated. This means that they cooked with good ingredients, not relying on salt and cheap chemicals. Tendon was just superb. I absolutely love the bowl.
