★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Having been here a number of times, we can say in our own humble estimation, that this is the best kappo style restaurant we have been to in Singapore. Chef Yomogi's understanding of flavours is simply incredible.
Every dish is meticulously prepared by him and his team. Because of this great attention to detail, wait times between dishes might be slightly long but this doesn't bother us at all. Great food is worth the wait!
Would highly recommend!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really enjoyed our experience at sakemaru! Staff are knowledgeable with sake recommendations and food was really fresh and good, although on the pricier side. Will revisit soon

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I just love this Japanese restaurant. The whole restaurant uses very calm grey as their theme colour. They got bar counter seating and normal table seating. Every single dish we ordered was fantastic. If I must choose a few to recommend, those will be the beef tongue, the shrimp and the fried chicken. The another thing I love about it is that the restaurant provides alcohol by glass. If you like sake and you want to try different type, Sakemaru is the place you shall go. You can try different sake by glass as many as you want. I love the dessert too. It’s melon covered by mochi. We didn’t get to try their seasonal menu. Sad…. But we will definitely go there again for other seasonal picks. The service staff were very friendly and polite. The owner was extremely nice. The average cost is around $100 per person. It’s absolutely worth it. Highly recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If I had to use one word to describe our meal here, I’d say delicate. From the great sake flavours that we had to accompany our meal to the subtle textures and flavours of every bite, it was all delicately delicious. From the sushi with seared fish appetiser to the claypot rice with fish, all the flavours we had were balanced yet delicate enough to appreciate the subtle taste of all the ingredients. Even the karage chicken which is never normally described as delicate had a juicy soft, delicate texture underneath the crispy skin. When you add in all the curated sake that accompanied our meal, it was a delicate but highly enjoyable evening. The pricing is a little on the high side, but as the quality of the food was good, it was fair. The service was good and polite, but I did need to get their attention on a few occasions, but that could also be due to the overly dark atmosphere they’ve curated.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A nice place to chill or have a date, they got the ambience spot on, cosy but not too dark. Located conveniently close to Raffles Place, it carries the most impressive list of sake collection that I have seen, you can order by glass or karafe to enjoy different kind of sake.
If you are a sake noob like me, they can also recommend based on your taste preference.
On food: Pretty much all the dishes we ordered were excellent in flavor and presentation, shrimp and fried chicken were my favourite.
They do serve Otoshi (compulsory appetisers) at the start of the dinner service at $8 that is not exactly cheap but hey it’s good quality at least, not just a stupid edamame.
They also serve Omakase but you need to pre book in advance so we had ala carte this time round but it was a great dining experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pros: Wide range of sake. Nice ambience. Chef seemed like a jolly man. One may have a better experience sitting at the counter, but this require earlier booking.
Cons : almost all food items were average tasting and perhaps a little overpriced. Service team was not very attentive. Took a while to get their attention to refill the tea, also had to ask twice for bill.
