β β β β β I want to tell you a story learned today at this bicycle shop ( Sports-in-law ) owner name is Sky Thian.
1) A primary 2 student came alone to repair a rusty bicycle he broke the left brake and all his cable was tied up and brake was not working he looks very poor and the bicycle shop owner Sky took pity on him and say this is charity work. He came alone without an accompanied adult.
The shop owner fixed the bicycle and charged him only $10. The looks of the child face was priceless and his bicycle was working again.
The little thing we do can make another person very very happy from a broken bicycle to a fully working bicycle.
2) 2 friends came to bicycle shop and complained the pedals was not working the 2 kids were less than 20 and clearly see the were poor and had to work as a Grab bicycle rider they were very kind to each other and could see that each was helping the other.
The bicycle owner saw that the pedal damage and the crank was damaged and the pedal could not inserted seeing that they were very poor he took 30 minutes to re thread the crank hole and charge the kids for the pedal only.
I can see the bicycle shop not rich but the riches in his heart is a pot of Gold. The everyday people he helps and is a treasure it self. People like this are far and few.
I am very touch by the act of kindness today 29th December 2020 which is my birthday .

β β β β β There's definately a reason why shops like these still survive despite the competetive on-line and retail market. The boss really takes his time to make sure everything is set up properly and safely before any hand off. Just came to change a tyre and he helped to do various adjustments and replaced a brake pad which I failed to notice was worn. He sold a bike to another customer while I was there and took the time to also do all the adjustments, teach the new owner how to play with the gears, the dismantle and reassemble process along with addressing any issues before accepting payment. If you are looking for cheap cheap, fast fast mass market rubish may not be thr place for you but a definate go to if you need some TLC for your bike, repairs, purchases and a good place to learn something and exchange ideas.

β β β β β Scary price charge and poor service , bring my racing bike to tune the gear and ended up never tune well plus he take just only 10 seconds to screw the gear and it cost $5... Next day I told my Son to bring down a body frame to take out just to unscrew the chain and crankset, it cost $10 and oso lost the chain lock zzzzzzz... For my experience I won't go again and won't even recommend my friend or anyone, but if u wish to go still can try it out! ?

β β β β β Worst bicycle repair experience ever!!!
I went to the shop and seeking to fix an issue-Chain drop from front single chain ring when shifting gear. He did not ask details assuming the chain is drop from back. He adjusted and even pull the back derailleur ( this is the 1st time I see someone can just pull the BD by hand force with both leg pushing toward the wheel). After that he told the problem is fixed, and want to get the money. I was very surprised and I asked him how if the chain problem persist/chain drop.
GUESS WHAT'S HIS REPLY? " If the chain drop again, throw the bike away and buy a new one!"
After payment, I went to do a test ride, and as expected, the chain drop again. I went back telling him the problem haven't fixed. He told me he already fixed the back derailleur issue. I told him my back derailleur never have issue before, just the chain keep on dropping at the front chainring.
He told me the problem can't be fixed and asked me to throw away the bike. Never have experience deal with this kind of people before. I said thank you and walk away, and wish I never deal with him again.

β β β β β Very dishonest seller. Sky, the white, long-haired owner, will not hesitate to rip you off if he thinks you're desperate to get your bike fixed, and you can afford it. He charged me a whopping $44 for a tyre replacement (including tube). Quoted $40 at first, then a few seconds after, upped it to $44. I thought it was strange but didn't pay much attention it as I really needed to get my bike fixed. Only then later when I visited Tiong Hin Bicycle shop (the nearest other bicycle repair shop), they told me to change a tyre only costs $28. WOW.
I also didn't appreciate how Sky made fun of my old bike, kept saying it was time "to throw away" and buy a new one, and that my remaining good tyre was "just a matter of time" before I had to change it to, so why not change two tyres with him for $88? If a customer has no budget to change their bike with you, you just make fun of their equipment and try make them feel inept instead? Hahaha. What a joke.
I was also disappointed to see how another lady came to fix her bike, but she couldn't really explain technically what was wrong with her bike very clearly. He overtalked her, brushed her aside, and then told her to just throw away her bike and get a new one.
I know there are other reviews about how good and kind and honest this guy is--but both my experiences visiting his shop is he 1. looks you up and down before he decides his pricing plan, and 2. will disparage your bike, instead of helping you find ways to save money. This type of service is a bit disappointing coming from a bike shop that's located in a humble working class neighbourhood. Will not go back again. What an absolute, dishonest turn off.
Go to Tiong Hin bicycle shop. They are reasonably priced, honest, and much more polite.

β β β β β Went down to fix my brakes late evening. Uncle recommended the type of brake suitable for my usage, price at 18$ per set, from Taiwan, Trimming the brake wire and recommend me a comfy saddle. Total damage at $58.50. I think itβs reasonable.
Uncle will ask you to go a short ride to test out if you satisfy with the bicycle condition after repair.
