First time ever doing a review because I felted so cheated. Chanced upon this store this morning and thought it looked pretty decent ocuppying 3 stall spaces. Ordered the char siew bao and lotus paste bao. The char siew bao is very flat and super oily on the bottom. After taking it, felt so nauseous as the filling is super oily ... soaking thru the bottom of all the baos. The lotus paste bao was so-so ... nothing to shout about. And just for info, the baos were consumed just after buying from the stall and while they were still warm. Would have given zero stars for the char siew baos.

Bought one chicken big bao, 2 char siew bao and glutinous rice from this stall on 22/09/2020 around 9 plus am. Glutinous rice has hardened at the corner, making it rather unpleasant to bite into. Thats what happen when u stack too many into one steamer or maybe kept overnight n reheated to sell. Chicken bao has some kind of “wooden stick” stuck inside which i spitted out. If it was some sort of veggy condiment, definitely it was rock hard like the splinter from those wood chopsticks. Would be terrible if some random old folk was eating this and choke on it. See pics attached. Sry i have eaten way better baos n glutinous rice than this. Quality really drop big time.

The paus are mini size. Not worth it for the price. Tried the braised pork pau and char siew pau. Char siew tasted nice, with a bit of char flavour in it , but braised pork tasted just meh.

Since I had a recent poor experience at Tiong Bahru pau, might be a revenge try but I am pleasantly surprised by another traditional famous pau. Located in Toa Payoh Lorong 1 Food Centre, on the second level, this handmade Teochew pau you can't miss, partly the breakfast queue, and they took up a whole 3 store units. They have a second location in Bedok. Prices very affordable and great value from 80 cents, they offer smaller than usual coffeeshop sizes pau. These mini paus are great so that you can try more flavours and don't get flour stuffed. Skin is smooth, fluffy and thin, the char siew and pork stuffings of a traditional taste we grew up with. Especially flavourful is the kong ba pau. Tender, flavourful and a good mix of fatty and lean pork. Four stars breakfast experience

04/11/18 Hard to get small kong ba bao in Singapore. The kong ba is nice and savoury. Not too oily or fat. Worth trying. They are so selling peach bao which is also hard to find in normal coffee stall or food court. Their Siew Mai is fantastic. Overall the bao big or small worth trying.

Tried the char siew bao, meat bao and flat bun. The meats were very dried and hard.

Comparatively pricey as the paus are bite size yet cost around half to 2/3 of an normal size pau. But most items generally taste good.

Char Siew bao has shrunk. Now about 3.5cm. used to be much bigger. The lor Mai gai and fan choy still smells great.
