Keep an open mind when you dine here. Its a restaurant with great heritage and my late mum used to bring me here while I am still a child. It was my husband's first try and hes a little amused that the food has a chinese twist to it. The creamed spinach uses chinese spinach and the steak has a little chinese seasoning on it. It's not that it's not good, just.. keep an open mind. You gotta try their famous fried fish beehoon and also the calamari, they are soooo good. ?

It was all about the service! They had so many staff, attention was anytime. The last time I visited was 10 years back and it was stuffy, Smokey and dark. Pretty sure they did some adjustments, it’s now brighter and less smokey, still a little warm, especially it was a raining evening. Food is affordable and pretty decent. Ordered the lobster bisque and it’s lovely! Ship salad was ok. The 2 mains are also pretty delicious, had a very satisfying meal and was so full we didn’t have space for desserts.

While in the Orchard Road area, decided to visit The Ship after not being here for more than 5 years. Wanted to see if the food here is still as good as their earlier days when they were first located at Robinson Road and when they shifted to Shaw House prior to their current layout. Kinda miss their first layout at Shaw House when the restaurant was cosier and more romantic. Arriving at the restaurant, a table was soon made available. Still not used to the current layout with the bright lights coming in from the wall to ceiling windows. Although wanting to avoid places with Festive CNY menus, surprisingly, the Festive Menu here was actually a great option that provided some deals. A bread plate and soup was served quickly after the order was made. The bread roll and SCS butter brought back memories while the soup was neither fantastic nor bad. The Ship Steak was soon served. This striploin steak had a special show where upon serving, the staff would then pour a shot of brandy on the steak in the hot plate to flambΓ© it. This helped to lock in the juices of the steak as well as to provide a delightful flavour to the meal. While the steak here still has fats attached to them, it is actually highly welcomed as the fats were tasty and not gamey as some other steakhouse. With the steak being medium rare, this was definitely a yummy dish. A second main soon arrived. This new Surf and Turf consists of a Lobster Thermidor and a Ribeye. The ribeye was succulent and even though it has less fats than the striploin in the the Ship Steak, it was nonetheless a well treasured flavour. The Lobster tasted great with the only grouse being that the Lobster was kinda small hence quite a small amount of flesh. The meal ends with the serving of a Coffee or Tea and a dessert of Ice Cream (Chocolate or Vanilla). Loved the simple options to enhance the wonderful mains. The Ship serves up quality Steaks and Seafood dishes, hence a slightly higher price tag than other similar chain restaurants. General Verdict: Wonderful steaks and other quality Western offerings that is worth a visit or more often if within one's budget Opening Hours: Monday-Thursday 11am-3pm and 5:30pm-9:30pm Friday-Sunday 11am-3pm and 5:30pm-10pm Queue Situation: Generally no queue outside of meal times Price: SG$30++ upwards per person Payment Mode: Cash and all Major Credit Cards (Physical and Paywave) Items Ordered: 1) Item: Butter Roll with SCS Butter and Cream of Mushroom Soup Description: Delicious nostalgic flavours to bring back memories Verdict: Good, Can Order 2) Item: The Ship Steak - Served with carrots, onions and carrots, and a Baked Potato with bacon chips, spring onions and sour cream - Beef is served Medium-Rare Description: Succulent and yummy steak with well matched fats that is drool worthy Verdict: Excellent, Die Die Must Try Price: SG$41.90++ (Per Festive Set), SG$40.90++ (ala-carte steak only) 3) Item: Lobster Thermidor and Ribeye Set - Steak served Medium Description: Succulent and yummy steak paired with a Lobster with firm and tasty flesh Verdict: Good, Can Order Price: SG$42.90++ (Per set) 4) Item: Tea - Served Black Description: Normal tasting English Breakfast Tea Verdict: Good, Can Order 5) Item: Ice Cream - Vanilla Flavour Description: Smooth and tasty Verdict: Good, Can Order

We ate dinner here. Had the mushroom pasta, garlic prawns, mixed salad n the infamous Russia borscht soup. Service was good, price was reasonable, taste of food was OK. A nice cosy family restaurant to dine in, but nothing out of this world.

A very popular restaurant and there is a long queue when we arrived. It's recommended to make a reservation earlier to avoid queueing. Ordered the chicken chop and fish soup noodle set meal. They served a generous portion for both set meals, however, we do not find the chicken chop and fish soup noodle delicious and worth the price ? Service is alright but could be better. The service crew is too busy having to handle a full house restaurant. Nonetheless, we will visit again to try other dishes.

Recommended by a grandma, the Ship restuarant serves surprisingly affordable and delectable food. We went for the Wednesday set lunch and tried their oxtail set which comes with soup served with bread,tea/coffee, and cake/ice-cream. The meat of the oxtail is so tender that it easily falls off from the bone. Quantity is excellent as well. For the elderly, it might be too much but I had my fill. The calamari is also very tender despite it being fried. The place is very crowded and needs reservation. They are pretty short-handed so send an email and wait for their not so prompt reply. We tried calling to reserve but usually no one picks up the phone. Also, do order the Alaskan Bombe. I love it and will come back again.

Saw long queue and thought the food must be good. Tried their The ship set meal. This is definitely not worth 27 dollars. When asked for desert that's suppose to come along with this and they said their pudding is sold out and I'm only left with ice cream as an option. My friend ordered the seafood set and he couldn't even finish it just cause it really doesn't taste good. Fried fish was tasteless. Quite a disappointment.

Best fish soup I have tried so far. It is the place to go whenever I am craving for fried fish thick noodle soup. The price is unbeatable at the heart of orchard and lunch set is super worth it with good quality. Oxtail is another recommended choice. The calamari is fresh and crispy and their service is great too. Love the unique deco of ship and giving much nostalgic feeling. Must make reservation to avoid disappointment.
