Just like the traditional taste of pulut hitam. Rich and flavorful, not watery and sugary sweet. Very satisfying. I love the bubur terigu as well! Reminds me of the one I had as a kid at the old Simon Rd market.

Reminiscent of the traditional flavor of chinese hot dessert. Limited choices of dessert served only in take away plastic container , which charges additional cost not a environmentally friendly options for plastic cultery Generous and freshly boiled portion n serving it pipping hot makes it a decent choice for dessert all day long.

Too sweet for my liking as well there was no kind of tau suan taste. Sell for the sake of selling the item. I think.

I might be unlucky to buy the last batch of Tao Suan that the hawker has prepared for the day. Generally the beans are very hard and I think the owner has taken some short cut buy steam it too fast and did not bother about the quality. It’s very disappointing since I travelled all the way from Bedok to get this Tao Suan. I would recommend the hawker at New Upper Changi hawker near Bedok Central which only charged at S$1.30/- And more consistent in their quality. I would not waste my time on this stall at Tiong Bahru in future.

Love that this stall specialises in only 3 types of traditional desserts, which means we find consistency in their products. Named Tiong Bahru Tau Suan because their tau suan has standards. If you like crunchy beans, lots of beans, not overly gooey but with just right amount of starchiness, fresh youtiao supplied from a few stalls away. All these hit the spot for a good Tau suan. Bubur hitam or Pulot Hitam is good too and he only takes your fresh pack of coconut milk out with your order. This is also where you can get Bubur terigu ( 倧麦η²₯), not many people appreciate this dessert as it is hardly sold these days due to the amount of work involved. Prices are $2 regardless & no extra charge for takeaway.
