★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very good braised pork rice. The pork in the braised sauce taste just right. The egg is phenomenal. The popcorn chicken is still juicy inside.
Worth the long queue n wait!
The young men were very polite too!
Careful the chilli though, packs a big punch!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice to see youngsters willing to try their hands on hawker fare and they're very enterprising. Service by the youngsters were excellent and I certainly hope they can improve on criticism and succeed. Currently for quite a few years already Taiwanese Lu Rou Fan seem like making a comeback. There's a popular rendition at the nearby North Bridge Road, another at Smiths Street offering small value bowls, and another at People's Park despite popular bloggers written about them, they didn't survive the last two years. Today all I wanted to try was the Taiwanese Braised Pork Belly Rice or Lu Rou Fan. $3.50 gets you a small bowl of Pearl Rice with the braised Pork Belly with sauce drenched liberally over the rice. Some spring onions and some chilli padi with garlic if you prefer chilli. The pork belly bits, both lean and fatty bits, were all mushy and gooey, the sauce quite bland and light. While it is easy on the palate, it lacks any wow and punch. In my books, Taiwanese Lu Rou Fan is about Pork Belly rendering fat, and cooked in its own fats, then stewed and lastly braised with fragrant soy sauce. Think about lard and soy fragrance, and melt in your mouth pork belly strips. Hope you can improve. Pack of tissue for perspective of their offering. It is a really small bowl but I am not complaining. Portion is OK for me. A light meal. But manage your expectations if you decide to come and try just the basic offering.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Happy to see a couple of young guys running this Taiwanese food stall.
Tried the braised intestines mee sua and the fried chicken, they were authentic and delicious! Proud to see our young hawkers stepping up and serving such good Taiwanese fare.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The service is fabulous. They greet every single customer with good wishes. That’s a good start to any meal!
The braised pork rice is nice, the taste is pretty authentic to the Taiwanese ones. 4.5 out of 5.
The pop corn chicken is tender but will be even better if it was saltier. 4 out of 5.
Overall, with the standard of service and the tastiness of the food, 5 stars!
Will be back to try the other items on the menu!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Best Taiwanese Lu Rou Fan I have had in a long time out of Taiwan. Have tried a couple other Taiwanese restaurants or cafe but this really tugged my heart strings. The braised pork rice set (comes with a small side of fried chicken bites) is really affordable priced at $6.80. Generous toppings and very friendly crew. My polished bowls said it all. Will definitely revisit!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Set A ($6.80) comes with Tasty Taiwanese braised pork over short grain rice,
a runny centre whole boiled egg and
Crunchy refreshing chilled cucumber salad.
Set also includes a serving of crispy juicy tender popcorn chicken.
Request for chilies, you will be served some chopped chilies. It adds serious heat which lifts the dish up. 2 hrs later and my tummy still feels warm and satisfied.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ordered a Set A with additional braised cabbage ($2). Come early to avoid the long queue.
Lu rou fan was flavorful with the pearl rice, would be great if the meat pieces was slightly bigger. Fried chicken was nicely done, not overly oily and chicken was still moist inside.
Braised cabbage was okay. Overall, food was good and service was great, staff was friendly and polite to all customers.
