β β β β β Very disappointed with the food here, it used to be a good robatayaki restaurant in town but the standard has been terribly dropped. The prawn is not fresh and the rice for the rice ball is not even Japanese rice, loosen apart, totally not acceptable and will not come back again for sure.

β β β β β My family of 5 (all adults) came here to celebrate a birthday. It's worth noting that there is no menu with fixed prices. You'll select the food items that gets freshly grilled, and hope for the best for your wallet when the bill eventually comes.
The food itself was pretty good! The seafood was fresh, the skewers were delicious. But the tail-end of our experience left us disappointed. We'd placed an order for more skewers and waited nearly 45 mins with nothing coming our way. Eventually, we were starting to get hungry again and asked the wait staff when our items would be coming. It was only then that they informed us that some of the items we'd ordered (nearly an hour ago!) were no longer available. I wish they'd kept the same amount of attentiveness when we were placing our (unknowingly expensive) orders all the way to the end of our stay. Unfortunately, it felt like once they'd secured the big items, they disregarded the rest of our experience :(
For what you'll eventually fork out, you'd get the same quality food, more consistent service and overall experience at other offerings.

β β β β β I've tried both the ala carte menu as well as the tasting menu here. I thoroughly enjoyed both the food as well as the interesting cocktails they have on offer here which were very refreshing and tasty.
For the ala carte menu I really loved the fresh vegetables especially the Japanese sweet leeks and the mushrooms with butter. As for the appetisers the jagaimo and beef tart are a must try, they were both extremely delicious! We ordered the wagyu short rib and the pork belly as our mains which were equally as good.
For the tasting menu, every dish tasted fresh and was beautifully plated. The stand out dishes for me were the chahan (umami fried rice) and the Scallops which were very big and fresh.
Overall Akanoya has changed a lot appearance wise, however the things that remain are good food good drinks and great service! Definitely one of my favourite Japanese joints in Singapore.

β β β β β Friendly and knowledgeable service. Extensive sake menu on offer with interesting cocktails as well.
Great produce from japan pair with proper execution and presentation. Has a large Ala carte menu featuring ingredients flown in from japan and a more modern Ala carte and omakase menu which I will head for the next time I head down.

β β β β β Ordered a lot of food from the ala carte menu. I expected a lot more from this place. It's pretty much the food quality that I care about, given the price that seems to mismatch. They also had aircon condensation problem affecting the table seating area. Anyway, my first time. And there are many great places around that are hard to beat.

β β β β β Food was amazing and service is top notch. From the moment we sat down to ordering we felt very comfortable and well taken care of by William. He was always checking in on us. Was very accommodating with our questions and very funny and personable.
The food was executed well. What stood out was the prawns with an especially delicious mentaiko mayo sauce, the perfectly cooked scallops with a very delicious broth, special tender wagyu beef skewers. The kinki fish was a recommended item and we all loved it very much as well. It was super buttery and melt-in-your-mouth. Kushiyaki skewers were all juicy and delicious too. William raved about their special maple butter so we had to get the grilled sweet potato. Even though the last order was over they managed to squeeze in for us. We ended off with the well grilled sweet potato which came with the most amazing maple butter! (Definitely tasted home-whipped, not off the shelf)
We also came just around their last order timing as we rushed down for a late night supper and they were super accommodating. At no point did we felt rushed and they even stayed a little past their closing time just so we could have time to comfortably finish off our food. We even had a nice little extra something William gave us. Very thoughtful and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves there. Price is on the high side but definitely well worth given the premium ingredients and thought they put into their food as well as the top notch service. Would definitely recommend coming for a good time or to bring guests and clients!

β β β β β Remarkable service and food is just incredible. My top picks - taraba King crab leg, kinki jaoanese rockfish, the sankaku ohmi Japanese wagyu and the Japanese white corn. Everything is carefully selected and prepared by friendly and jovial chefs and the team is very alert (I accidentally dropped my chopsticks and William was ready with a new set as I was reaching out for the ones I dropped) veterans for sure.
Oh and the cocktails - I loved them all ! Yes a 100% recommendation if you're looking for great authentic robayaki in Singapore!
