β β β β β i posted a review june/july 2020 for my first visit to the cat vet, but now it's mysteriously lumped together with the amber vet's reviews.
initial review:
we used to go to amber vet years ago before switching vets. decided to give cat vet a go today for the cat's annual blood and dental work. everything seemed ok at first, and dr emma was professional and helpful. however, when we returned to collect our cat at the stipulated time, i was made to wait for over 75 mins without much info (yet i couldn't leave because a hospitalisation fee would be charged if i arrive 30 mins after). the biggest shock was the bill, at $1500+. this is almost 3x of the bill at another upscale vet clinic (which included extractions + blood work too) and $600 more than what they quoted ($700-$950). this wouldn't be such a bitter pill to swallow if their usp wasn't being a cat specialised clinic- the vet techs couldn't even remove the catheter (they actually shrieked?? mind you, this clinic is listed under cws for community cats, and my cat is a textbook stray who has a mind of his own) and i had to do it myself at home (he's not friendlier with me). yes my cat is feisty yet i have seen firm and swift handling of him at the previous clinic which made the appointment a lot less traumatic for all of us.
16 march 2021: because of the vet's decision to file down instead of simply extracting the tooth, food was often snagged by the jagged edges and he struggled so much during meal times. we decided to take the risk of putting him under so soon within the year and returned to our regular vet. his teeth looked terrible and definitely didn't look like they'd been scaled 9 months ago. sadly the vet opted to not extracted the remaining tooth as it would have been a rather invasive surgery for an old cat with compromised kidneys. my cat was in and out of the clinic within 2 hours and everything was under $700 with a comprehensive blood work done as well and medication.
