They have friendly staff at the bank but their cards are terribly managed.

Got charged an extra fixed fee for withdrawing cash using my China BOC debit card at their ATM!!! This extra fixed fee doesn't exist when I withdraw using the same card at other non BOC ATM, like UOB and OCBC in Singapore. What's the logic?

On 21 Jan, 19 I came to this BOC Punggol Branch at Waterway Point to renew my seven figures fixed deposit. I approached staff Ms. Zhuang Wei Sabrina at the entrance told her I was looking for Mr. Phoon. She said she didn’t know and ignored me. I phoned Mr. Phoon DID no answer and requested Ms. Zhuang to look for Mr. Phoon. She told me no such person at the branch. I told Ms. Zhuang to renew my seven figures fixed deposit. Due to privacy we went into a room for the transaction. Mr Phoon then appeared came and handled my fixed deposits. Ms. Zhuang went out of the room. Mr. Phoon told me to sit in the room to wait for my fixed deposits document in the room. Ms. Zhuang then came into the room and chased me out. Ms. Zhuang from entrance till chased me out no smile no greetings. Since I was being chased out. I went to next door bank ICBC to discuss seven figures fixed deposit. ICBC gave me a pack of Bak Kwa and two packs of CNY red packs and I walked out a happy client vs BOC Punggol Branch’s rude attitude Ms. Zhuang no smile no greetings and chased out a seven figure client.

I owned a Zaobao Union Pay card recently, and was told from the phone customer service officer that I need to proceed to any branch to do the activation for my Internet banking? OMG, what type of service is this .? Gosh!

Avoid BOC branch customer service at all costs. Here the counter process is super inefficient. Coming on weekend, you will waste your whole morning or afternoon to be served.

Have to give a one star review for incredible slow service. Cannot imagine waiting for more than half hour, the queue doesn’t move at all!
