Ordered salmon claypot rice, the portion is just nice for us (2pax), but both of us are considered light eater. Heavy eater might think the portion is abit too small for them. It tastes good, but the price is on the higher side (around 30ish per portion).

Is it the best? Maybe not. But it is really not too bad. I would say above average. Their signature is the Japanese style claypot rice, which is good for 2 pax. Do go try it out! Wish they have a more extensive menu. Especially more side dishes will be nice.

Children under 10 eat for free! We had the Wagyu beef claypot which was barely enough for 2 adults. But there are better claypots elsewhere easily which bothers me.

Can order - Iberico pork, charred, tender and flavourful. Sorry this is going to be harsh but if they don't improve their main dishes it's going to be very hard to survive. We visited on a week night and it was totally empty at 7pm as compared to the neighbouring restaurants which were full. Mushroom pot barely pass the mark. It's ok..... But I mean I would probably pay for local claypot at this price. But better than the kaisen pot which is really like.. there's no seafood. You don't call yourself a seafood pot when there's almost nothing except little shrimps. Alot of little shrimps like haebi. Rice is plain and tasteless which is usually ok but this is claypot rice. Note that they said one pot is for 2 pax but I think it will be for 2 small eaters. But 2 pots for 2 pax is a little much. So idk how people gonna go about ordering. Either end up a little hungry or end up wasting food. ? Service is good and prompt.

The claypot rice is nice although not sure if it’s authentic claypot rice dishes from Japan. It may look expensive but the claypot is for 2 people. They also have free kids meal.

A modern take on claypot rice in Japanese style! So glad to try these special dishes at @donabe.sg @payalebarquarter ? ?Saba Age 1st time trying deep fried saba. Fresh and not fishy! ?Kaki Donabe Plump Hiroshima oysters and fresh Pacific clams. The rice is seasoned with fragrant nori butter. It also comes with 2 pieces of crispy cod fish crackers. ?Iberiko Buta Donabe The pork jowl is so tender! The rice is seasoned with smoked sausage tare, so appetising! ?Kinoko Donabe Variety of mushrooms such as king oyster, shimeji and shitake. Comes with a perfect onsen egg too. The runny egg makes the claypot rice more moist than usual. ?Ice cream Tried 4 flavours: - Hojicha, made in-house! Aromatic and nutty tea flavour. - Matcha, milky and not bitter, which I like. - Black sesame, classic crowd’s favourite. - Yuzu, refreshing and citrusy. Do note that the donabe featured in my pics are meant for 1 pax and available during lunch only. The donabe in their ala carte menu are good for 2 pax. ?If you find my above review helpful, check out my IG @samlivestoeat for more foodie reviews! ?

Price to quality ratio here is great. We enjoyed both the mushroom and iberico pork lunch sets. Wait time was slightly long - but not long enough, would've preferred if the pots were heated for longer as the rice was missing any crisp bottom. We still enjoyed the meal and will be back. Sadly we were the only customers for lunch on Sunday... so not sure if we can be back. Business is clearly not doing as well as it should be. ?

Donabe εœŸι‹ means clay pot in Japanese. So it’s quite apt that this newly open Japanese restaurant offers a wide selection of clay pot dishes with Japanese elements in them. Portioned for two, each donabe is made of Japanese Nigata Rice cooked with premium dashi which consists of aged katsuobushi, Hidaka konbu. Selection includes Ohya aka Chicken, Iberiko Buta, Unagi or Kaki aka Hiroshima Oyster. But don’t leave without trying the Kinoko ($26). It might look unassuming, but this vegetarian-friendly dish is a delightful combination of oriental mushroom and mushroom floss and a runny onsen egg. Retaining a smokey fragrance yet nicely moist, we scrape the bowl clean in no time.
