โ โ โ โ โ Koungโs Wanton Meeโs winning element lies in their charcoal-grilled char siew. I really appreciate that the barbequed meat was thickly cut instead of the thinly sliced ones. Every slice was tender and succulent even though it was a leaner cut, with slight char and a sweet malt sugar marinate coating its exterior. The noodles had a good eggy taste & springy and tasted even better after tossing them in their savoury black sauce and some pickled green chilli. The soup wantons were serviceable and could do with more filling, so I ended up ordering an additional bowl of dumpling soup to share. Definitely preferred their dumplings over the wantons - plump and meaty with nicely seasoned minced pork! โ

โ โ โ โ โ The wanton mee was tasteless today. Very different from the last time I ordered this. There was also no hint of spiciness despite choosing the Chilli + Black Sauce option. If this is what happens when businesses expand , then done expand. Have some pride in your products/works.

โ โ โ โ โ Read about the good reviews from the outlet at Geylang and decided to try the newly opened one at JEM. The char siew is indeed soft and really nice. However, the wanton and dumplings has a weird texture to it. Soup and noodle was generally okay but not fantastic. The place gets really crowded even at 2PM, and also there are limited seatings.

โ โ โ โ โ I decided to give this a go after reading about good wantan mee in Singapore. Though the presentation looks quite poor, the noodles were springy and good, with flavours elevated when the sauces are properly mixed in. Do opt for black sauce and Chili if you like the way itโs done in most Hawker centres. I had the one with just Chili but it was still good!
The char siew was not too bad too, more on the red side, not too charred. The wantan pieces are well-cooked, and with such smooth skin. I would come back here for my wantan mee fix.

โ โ โ โ โ Wan Tan mee is OK, but the fried ngoh hiang. ็ธไบ้ฆ. Very salty, and quite expensive 5.8 for just 1 roll.

โ โ โ โ โ Really can not make it. The newspaper cuttings are probably for show.
Normal char siew (with none of the charcoal taste they were โfamous forโ), flavourless broth lousy wonton with pathetic portion of meat and thick skin.
One star for the free flow of spring onions.
Still dare to price themselves above engโs. :/

โ โ โ โ โ An okay bowl of wanton noodles, nothing special to shout about.
? Ordered both with chilli and almost instantly regret when I saw that it was without black sauce - might return to try the black sauce variant in future since thatโs something we are looking for in our wanton noodles.
? Soup was rather common, something you find in almost any other shops. Dumplings were okay too, not a fan of it.
โ๏ธ ? Do also note their set meals doesnโt come with coffee or tea in the evening (or maybe just for that day), so be prepared to sip on syrup drinks if you are buying a set meal.
