Matchaya - Jem

It was our first attempt and it will be our last. Space limit and limited seats around. Unlike what we can be usually found in other cafe, space where you could chill and relax after a busy day of shopping. The drink was decent and with the amount of quantity given. We could get it elsewhere.

It’s really a nice corner of Jem to have Matchaya. However, I requested for the Signature Matchaya Parfait but was told I have to top up $2 because the usual matcha ice-cream is unavailable. Instead of $16.90, it would be $18.90 with the premium matcha ice-cream. When I told the staff, it’s strange a matcha theme store doesn’t serve matcha ice-cream so that they could have the customers to purchase the premium matcha ice-cream. It’s a bad move. Bad publicity of their premium matcha ice-cream. Matcha ice-cream should be made available and premium matcha ice-cream should be just an option for customer to choose if they would to try that as a seasonal product. Customers shouldn’t be forced into paying $2 extra just to try the Signature Matchaya Parfait. It’s a pretty store but the staff’s attitude didn’t fit into the theme. When I clarified with the staff, the staff told me, she’s just doing her job to covey what was told to her. I was shocked by the response. The sesame parfait $14.90 didn’t impress me too. My first and my last visit.

Cosy & spacious place. Lighting was bright enough. Limited seats. Signature Parfait($16.90) is the most valuable item to try all flavour of soft serve. Yummy! Pastries were delicious. Red velvet santa($7) is spam with creamy cheese ganache and wild berries. Raspberry Swiss Roll($6) was creamy and smooth. Iced Matcha milk($6.30), Hot Matcha Koffee($6), Iced double Chokoreto($6.30) drinks were good. Overall, good place to hang out with.

This cafe is nested right at a corner and I'm glad I chanced upon this place!! It was quite crowded on a weekday evening. Ordered the Double Chokoreto and Houjicha Milk and both drinks were delightful. Would probably opt for less sweet for the drinks on my next visit! Would definitely return again to try other items on the menu ?? Update : Hojicha straight tea was really clean, but probably won’t order it again at that price point Chokoreto was similarly clean at 0% sugar, high quality no doubt, at 73% chocolate - not sure if we will be keen to try this again (Maybe their hot selection is better than the cold ones) Mocha was overly sweet.. Will definitely not recommend this for anyone looking to have a clean or coffee drink.

The cone matcha ice cream is shown $6.70 in the menu but when ordered was told to add $2 more for the premium matcha that the shop is currently selling. Has to admit I can smell the aroma of the matcha when it was served to me however the matcha ice cream is still too milky. Shop ambient is good if you can find a sit. Will try the tea next time.

My favourite spot in Jem is Matchaya, my daughter likes the ice-cream a lot, got very creamy smashed red bean at the bottom, very tasty and won’t be so sweet. Everytime I will also order a latte, sitting together with her, enjoying the desert in this shop made my day.

Still one of my fav places to get matcha drinks and desserts! Happy when Matchaya opened an outlet in the west and I finally tried their pancake stack! It was so good. The fluffy pancakes with matcha sauce went well with the critrusy fruits. It would be great if they gave more sauce at the side because it soon dried up on the pancakes. The portion is definitely good for sharing.

Cozy Matcha themed cafe tucked at a corner in JEM. We tried to Hojicha Caramel Lava Cake and it was delicious and gooey, albeit a tad expensive. Drinks and teas were reliable. Staff was friendly.
