β β β β β Restored premises under National Archives. Asian Film Archives run film programmes, giving audiences another choice than current movies at commercial halls.

β β β β β Watched two films during the Asian Film Archives Festival and the venue was truly worth the trips. I didnβt mind, but if you are like to have a drink or snack before/during/after the screening you will be disappointed as they donβt have anything wo Th in the premises.

β β β β β Very clean place with friendly staff. I love that they screen a variety of films, from old ones like Godzilla to even independent, more obscure ones. They also host a lot of film-related events like QnA panels to develop the film industry in Singapore, which I greatly appreciate.

β β β β β Was here for a couple of films and it was quite a delightful experience. The range of films they play are quite impressive/ art house types. Comfortable seats and theatre.

β β β β β Came here to watch a film under the Singapore Chinese Film Festival. Have to be back to see the archives on the ground level. Really lovely and grand space tucked on a hill.
Was an AC girl so I was attracted to come initially as it named after our school's founder :)

β β β β β I loved the location, acoustics and seating. Attended the Perspectives Film Festival, which I thought could do with even better attendance. Nevertheless, Oldham Theatre was a great venue for an equally thought-provoking movie. This time around, it was Stanley Kwan's Rouge and Centrestage. Really brought me back to all of the hubris that was the golden age of HK film-making. Great venue, good attendance.

β β β β β For a city of 5 million people and a world city reputation, Singapore falls short of other world cities on having an open arts scene embracing diversity. I was excited to find the Oldham theater, tucked in the National Archives Building between Fort Canning Park and SMU which focuses on showing Asian cinema and art house films. Unfortunately it's not in a classic old movie palace where the architecture is part of the experience, but instead it's more like a school auditorium, clean, modern, with very comfortable seats, a good amount of leg room in each row. No food or drink allowed. I have seen films from Myanmar, Japan and more. All have had subtitles in English. They don't run commercials or previews... So be on time... Start time = movie time!
