β β β β β The food is fresh and tasty. Ordered grilled Ika, tori karage (fried chicken) and a kaisen don. Service wise could be better. Would recommended fried chicken.

β β β β β A Saba (Mackerel) speciality shop from Japan, Sabar Restaurant started in Osaka selling grilled fatty Mackerel fished off the Pacific Coast of Japan.
Located on the 3rd floor of 100AM, Sabar Restaurant is an extremely popular restaurant during mealtimes as it is always packed. The restaurant is especially packed on days which has a 3 or 8 in the date (eg. 3rd, 8th, 13th, 18th, etc) as the restaurant has a special 3-8 menu packed with specials at a discounted rate. Having made a reservation a week out, a table was provided soon after arrival.
The grilled Toro Saba here was excellent and supremely well grilled. It had the right consistency. Crispy skin, meat cooked to the right doneness and a little bit of fish fat to bring out the full flavour of the Saba. It was heavenly just eating into one.
On 3-8 days, a party of 2 may consider sharing one Saba over 2 bowls of rice and Miso Soup each, together with a Grilled Squid. Otherwise, for those who wish to have a little more, there is a Grilled Toro Saba Set where one can have an entire Saba to themselves with a bowl of rice, a bowl of miso soup, a bowl of salad and a plate of pickles. The same set on a non 3-8 day costs double but comes with a serving of Chawanmushi.
For those who are a little more adventurous, they serve up Fugu Nabe or Pufferfish Steamboat. The flesh were generously cut and went great in the Nabe. Surprisingly, after taking the fish out of the Nabe, it somehow tastes a little like Chicken. Do ask for the Special Menu if not given as it is a handwritten menu with special seasonal items. Loved the Oysters on that menu.
Definitely the go to place for excellent grilled Saba and to taste Saba as it is meant to be and worth returning for. The only negative if any, is to clarify their dessert dish as it claims to have a Taiyaki and an Ice Cream and shows as such in the menu but the staff claims the ice cream will be in the Taiyaki and not separate from the Taiyaki. Perhaps 2 separate items or wording to say Taiyaki filled with Ice Cream will help to clarify the confusion.
General Verdict: Great tasting Saba that is well grilled to perfection with the skin crispy and the flesh juicy that makes for a great meal

β β β β β Was headed out to AM100 mall to have lunch at Heijoen for some yakiniku but got there and was told they close at 2:30pm and weβll have 10 minutes to eat. That was unacceptable so wandered around to see what else was around.
Saw this restaurant, Sabar, who said they were the Japanese karaage chicken. Intrigued, I went in and ordered that. My brother had the chirashi bowl. Both were outstanding. The chicken was crispy though with an amazing light batter. Meat was juicy and tender. Was given the choice of teriyaki or mayo mentaiko dressing. The dish also came slices of tamago which complemented the chicken and rice very well. Overall, it was a champion fried chicken. Crispy, tender and tasty.
The chirashi came in two portions - the bowl of rice with cubes of fish. And a separate dish with fresh slices of ameabi, swordfish, scallops, tuna and salmon. The fish was fresh and sliced right. They were quite generous with the fish and was pleasantly surprised by the selection and variety of fish provided.
I thoroughly liked the meal and the ambiance and am looking forward to going back.

β β β β β We really enjoy the food here and have visited quite a few times. The saba sushi is thick and delicious and paired with Shiso leaf which adds a very nice fragrance to it. We love the aburi style one the best, although the grilled and vinegared saba is good as well. We have also ordered their unagi Don, which was delicious and well presented. 1 star off for the curt service which can border on being rude, but realized after a few times there that itβs just the auntieβs style of serving. When you try to make conversation with her, she is actually quite nice :)

β β β β β Food was good, especially the Saba fish and soy scallop, they're fresh and naturally sweet. Motsu nabe with Ponzu soup base was so so, the soup was too thick and salty. Environment is pleasant and clean. Would like to specially applaud the staff named Lervin for her exceptional service, she's charismatic, friendly, lively and easygoing! The other staff seemed to be cold and pokered face, especially the lady with curly haired (seemed to be from the kitchen side), who was quite fierce and impatient.

β β β β β Still the best in terms of Saba fish offerings. The lunch set is extremely good value for some fresh saba. The service however can be improved.

β β β β β Love the cosy feel of this restaurant suddenly transformed into Japan. Quite a unique fish based dinner. Main course being the Sabar fish. Try the recommendation of direct freshly Japanese imported. Located 3rd level.
