Best Japanese restaurant in Singapore

C	Christine Kwong on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ After my wonderful dining experience yesterday at Tamago-en Velocity, I decided to try this outlet which is very near my place. The prawn mentaiko pasta was too wet and was almost like soup. The oyako-don was huge in quantity - but the rice was too dry and a bit hard, sauce wasn’t enough to soak into the rice and the egg was too overcooked for oyako-don. The sauce was too strong in ginger taste too, overpowering the dish. The tiramisu soufflé pancake we ordered was a huge disappointment, compared to the soft pillowy one we had at Velocity. It was dry, over cooked and almost had the texture of chiffon cake! Definitely NOT coming to this outlet again. We also missed the warm attentive service at Velocity. This outlet is a bit too impersonal and the waiters are too busy.
E	Enya Lim on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Decent atmosphere and great customer service. I got the shakshuka, which is surprisingly filling despite the portion appearing small. Taste is ok, I think it could do with less egg cos it's overwhelming the tangy tomato and curry taste of the food
Q	Quentin Lee on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I don’t know if it’s possible to tell the difference when the eggs are flown in from Okinawa, but they really know how to cook eggs well, turning them into pancakes, whipping them into bubbly clouds, and frying them while leaving them still nice and runny. The pancakes are the real standouts here and are extremely fluffy and with generous toppings. Worth planning ahead by leaving some extra tummy space.
E	Eunice Hannah Lim on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Tried the Chicken and Beef Udon and the portion was really small. The chicken meat had a lot of skin and fats, the meat was dry. Egg was not bad. Service was really good. Overall felt it was just average and unfortunately underwhelming.
D	Dennis Wan on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The food here is pretty good, eggs are really fresh and have great flavour. Portions are generous enough that we couldn’t eat anymore dessert after we finished, so we sadly had to postpone the fluffy pancakes to another day. Decor is pretty cute!
S	Su Xing on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My daughter longed for their Soufflé pancake. It is not disappointing. The Crème Brûlée Soufflé we ordered is extremely jiggly and creamy, tasted not too sweet. The egg pudding is also creamy and highly recommended. Personally I like the Mango mojito than Mixed fruit tea because the later is a bit too sweet. So my favorite thing is pairing with a long black coffee.
A	Anthony Chia on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Previously visited their other branch at Nex. Tamago-EN is a casual restaurant which specialises in Japanese style egg dishes, with the eggs imported from Okinawa. Had their Tamago Kake Gohan (whipped egg white on top of rice) with Saikoro Steak (beef cubes with sautéed mushrooms), as well as a White Peach Soufflé Pancake. Certainly the place to go if you love your eggs. The whipped egg with rice, when mixed together, have a porridge-like consistency and a nice, comforting flavour. The Saikoro Steak provides a slightly premium feel to the dish. IMHO, the soufflé pancakes are always the highlight at Tamago-EN. Nice, fluffy, with a mild sweetness when eaten with the fresh cream. Certain dishes (such as the pancakes) will need some time to be prepared, so do plan accordingly. (My dad's Pork Katsu and Egg Don, which is not pictured, actually arrived after the pancakes.)
J	Jeannie Koh on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I went twice to the other outlet at Thomson plaza and loved it. However this outlet is quite disappointing. Came with my friends who tried this first time and they didn’t like it. Comparing to pepper lunch this is not worth it.. the only consolation is that the soufflé is still not bad. But the mains are rather disappointing in terms of taste and food. Its not hot when the food came as well. Seafood also don’t look or tasted fresh. I will only come back here for dessert maybe and will go back to Thomson plaza outlet
