★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The mentaiko cream with salmon tempura don is surprisingly delicious! The serving of mentaiko is generous that it makes the cream sauce of the udon very aromatic and tasty. The rice items are not as impressive relatively speaking. I also fell it is rather cheap to use disposable plastic box for their pricy dons. The Tori Karaage don is rather sad that it is just rice, fried chicken and one piece for pickle!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Affordable Japanese food at an extremely convenient location, right above the MRT. The staff was super friendly and gave us their recommendations of what people usually get. So we ended up getting a Katsu Curry and Kaisendon. While you can never go wrong with curry dishes, the Kaisendon tasted fresh with 5 different types of fish bring different textures to the bowl. Loved it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Came here during lunch for the signature Kaisen don. The rice was a tad hard, but the salmon slices were thick and well seasoned. They don’t provide sauces so that is pretty sad. Drinks are served in disposable paper cups which can be much improved. Be warned that the ventilation in the eatery is poor, leaving our clothes rather stinky after the meal. You should really consider ordering as takeaway or using the food delivery services like FoodPanda or Grab for a better experience!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wow. It's like they're not even trying their minimum best. Kaisen don was so-so. They didn't have any shoyu/ soya sauce and could only offer their special sauce at additional cost. The maze-udon was a disappointment. For $13.80, it was a bowl of udon topped with tempura batter bits, a teaspoon of minced meat and an onsen egg. Not worth the above average price.
Maybe it was their off day and we were the only customers having a late lunch. Shrugs. Not coming back here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Walked by. Tasted it. The signature Kaisendon ($16) rice is close to icy cold, and the diced fish is room temperature warm. It's only a person running the store. I was the only customer.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ $16 lunch set spicy sesame kaisendon - salt galore! Yep, salty. Otherwise an ok bowl for me. I see quite a lot of disappointed reviews, but I think this outlet has improved from my last visit 2 yrs ago so I’ll give them a pass ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As shown from previous reviews, this place is truly quite a disappointment. The fish tasted like fake hard jelly with fish flavouring, the rice was of poor quality. Everything was cold-room temperature and the taste was non existent (at best they added soy sauce to it).
If this is their best dish i don’t even want to try the rest and won’t be patronising again.

Karaage Bento portion was too small for $14 and rice was tasteless.
Spicy sesame kaisendon was quite good. Sauce was spicy with a kick and the ingredients were fresh. Rice however, was tasteless. Worth trying once but will not revisit.
TL;DR below average but overpriced
