The Gogi @ Alexandra Central

Second visit to The Gogi. The wife and I had a very pleasant dinner experience a while back and we decided to have another go today. Was not disapponted! Food's great. We ordered 2 BBQ meats (pork neck and beef short ribs). Meats and accompaniments were fresh. Lettuce can be refilled once. Banchan dishes were delish and portions were substantial (and refillable). The BBQ also comes with an eggy pool which you can decide the doneness to cook it. Oh, comes with free cold tea too. Staff were generally attentive and we had a nice little chat with the owner, who shared about his experiences in Korea and little nuggets of life, while helping us with the BBQ. Very homely feeling. Price wise we'd consider The Gogi to be mid range. Our lunch came up to be 58-ish. May seem a little pricey, but we think it's good value for money (we had beef ribs, after all). Will definitely be back again.

Found this little gem in Alexandra. We ordered their army stew and spicy Korea fried chicken with cheese. Army stew was full of ingredients and taste was authentic. Side dishes like the kimchi and bean curd skin were tasty too. What stood out for us was the attentiveness of the service staff (this short haired Chinese speaking lady) and the male boss, whom gave advice on how the ramen shld be cooked and told us abt the 3hrs free parking (w min $30 spent iirc). Will be back to try their bbq meats as we saw that the service staff would actually help you to cook the meats.

The seafood pancake is a MUST ORDER. It is made to perfection. Best I have ever eaten in sg ?‍? They serve Authentic Kbbq that legitimately feels like you are in korea (Lady boss is a friendly korean lady)! I Love how tender the beef is. Lady boss gives a fantastic service, from helping to grill the meat and checking with us if everything is okay consistently. Free flow sides are provided too, my favourite is the korean fish cake!! ? Price wise, worth for the quality and great for group celebrations!! PS, their army stew is highly raved too, will be back to try it soon!! Love how it is near my house too, so convenient!

Went there two evenings in a row, so that should tell you how good the food is! The star was really the service however. 1st visit: BBQ Set C (beef and pork) with kimchi jjigae, bibim naengmyeon (cold noodles with spicy sauce) and haemul pajeon. Kimchi jjigae (and their kimchi itself) are top notch, easily top 2 that i have tasted locally. Super rich and complex flavours. Haemul pajeon was as heavenly as online photos looks, crispy and chewy with fresh seafood and spring onions, also one of the top i have had. Bibim naengmyeon was the star and left a deep impression as it is hard to find a good one locally. Very generous with the radish and cucumber topping and bibim sauce was done to perfection, not too salty or sweet/sour. A little broth is given too to make sure the noodles are not too dry. Noodles are springy, chewy and served ice cold, super refreshing! Their barley tea is also very delicious. 2nd visit: I couldn't get the bibim naengmyeon out of my mind so as i was nearby, i decided to stop by for dinner being prepared to get takeaway if it was too crowded. Owner and crew were very kind to accomodate me as a solo diner (with 40mins time given, more than enough). Young lady who served me (short hair, speaks english, mandarin and korean) was very polite and reassuring, apologising for the wait while she served my noodles and assured me there'd be enough time. Thank you for kindly accomodating me and i hope i did not hold up your other diners! I was actually not having the greatest of days but my experience here today was excellent. As i made payment, lady boss took the effort to chat with me and remembered i had visited before. Thank you to both boss and your staff for the kind and warm service, it touched my heart. Back for dinner a couple of days ago (April 8th 2022). The food is still amazing. And the service from the owner, impeccable! She could handle the coming for 2 tables at the same time. Great place for a get together! ? Went out of our way to try this Korean restaurant and I was not disappointed. The side dishes were very generous. It didn't have all my usual favorites but not bad to start. The BBQ meat was very tasty but I would like to try the non marinated meats on my need visit. Additional to that we had a side order of their Kimchi pancake and that was very tasty. Overall the food was very good but I do feel that the prices were a little dearer compared with the amount of food. None the less I'll be back to try more....

Great service - staff had a lot of energy and service was efficient. Great food - everything we ordered was good to great. The pancake is one of the better ones I've had. Side dishes were also decent, especially the kimchi. Overall a great meal despite the location being somewhat out of the way.

If you look for a satisfying Korean restaurant that doesn't always have a long queue or require booking weeks in advance, this is the place. Food is fresh and delicious, service quite good, owners are very hands on. For barbeque, beef ribs are must try. I really enjoyed the kimchi/ seafood pancakes too.

Nice find in the neighbor hood. The Pajeong (seafood pancake) is indeed like the other reviews said, Must try :) We ordered BBQ set B, the pork and chicken was nice. Beef ribs is just so so. Free flow dishes were nice. The shop is must bigger than it seems. Would come back to try other Korean dishes :)
