Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant - 320 Orchard Rd

We were reminiscing an old family haunt, so came back to this charming restaurant for a nostalgic lunch just before the New Year. Food is elegant and we love the classy ambience. The hospitality and service standards aren't quite as warm and friendly as we remembered though.

Excellent dim sum and elegant Chinese cuisine in an intimate, classy setting. Dim sum is innovative, with a truffle dumpling that's fragrant but not overdone. Classics like roast chicken are great - the signature roast chicken has excellent crispy skin and tender flesh. One of the places to go for excellent Chinese food.

Good quality Chinese food at wan hao, located quite conveniently in orchard For me the best dish was always the duck which is very good, the skin was wrapped and the meat was later made into fried rice Also the coconut dessert (recommended on menu) is also great Overall a good place for a treat . But can be busy so booking definitely neeeded

Restaurant wasnt that busy on weekday lunch but somehow it was fully booked. It also somehow gave me the impression that size of the restaurant had shrunk a bit recently, place certainly looks smaller than before. Reliable place for dim sum though i wish they have more varieties. Abalone dish was a let down, totally misled by server who said it shd be around 100g, we had a laugh when the dish came out as its clearly a small mouthful only, hope they will train up their server better to give correct info to customers.

Wan hao is one of those Chinese restaurants to go to when we want a special treat. Certainly expensive and booking a table is a nightmare but there is no denying that the food is always consistently of a high standard. Nearly every menu item except for the even more overpriced soups are favourite menu items. One of the hardest things to do there is to make a choice of dishes so that we do not over order and bust the budget so that we have to eat hawker food for the rest of the month. The yu sheng during Chinese new year was the best we ever had at $200+ per platter but there was sashimi lobster, salmon and hamachi. And the freshest shredded vegetables and a nicely balanced sauce. Today we had a birthday celebration at Wanhao and it was excellent. Extremely polite , attentive , obliging and unobtrusive service , excellent food. The wagyu beef cubes were especially good and so was the garoupa fillet. The only complaint is that the house wine, a shiraz labelled the Shy Pig was too fruity.

First time here…. They say it’s been around for ages!!! Tried today and yes food is good. Price is affordable even though we are smack in orchard. However service will be the downside…. Maybe we are late and they are closing…. However still good experience

The online booking always indicates no available table when I feel like to visit in a few days. So I booked 2 weeks in advance for dine-in on a Friday night. Pretty authentic Cantonese cuisine. We ordered from chef’s recommendation ones we wanna try. Satisfied with all the dishes. Pork Ribs With Mandarin Orange Sauce is our favorite - fat portion of the pork ribs is quite high but well neutralized by the sweet yet a bit sour orange sauce. It’s juicy, tender and definitely goes very well with rice. Would feel like to try the dim sum and peking duck next time.

Really enjoyed my dinner at Wanhao (inside Marriott). We had Peking duck, beef cubes, abalone & sea cucumber (this one is not so good), pork ribs and truffle prawn. I’d say 80% of the dishes really hit the mark. Also had the mango 楊枝甘露 with coconut ice cream, really good. Will be back for more!
