Ban Heng Teochew Porridge - #B2-06/10

Always liked their porridge & Rice, their pricing yes a bit expensive but overall not completely bad

Food is okay but not sure if it’s worth the price. The level of service is definitely zero star. Had to correct one of the staff for her terrible attitude even though we were the only customers at 11.30am on a Sunday. Get ready to frowned upon if you take slightly longer to choose your food. Won’t be coming back here again.

Been here twice. Food is nice and properly prepared, however some dishes are cold. The downside is the bad services rendered, staffs like to mumble during ordering and move around all the time while taking orders, even while standing at the queue I am constantly asked to give them space so that they could place their items. They also don’t entertain questions about the dishes. There’s a poster asking diners to keep trays, but there’s only one table to fit all the trays and it is always filled with used plates, nobody bothers to wipe tables either. Throughout the 40 minutes while I’m there, not a single person cleared the plates or did any cleaning. Overall it’s a messy place to dine in, prices are not cheap, but if they could improve their services I do find that it’s worth another visit.

Dishes are all very cold except for the porridge. $15 worth of dishes but portions are very small. Should have seen the reviews before entering the stall. Not worth it

Generally, you can go somewhere else, it just like 菜饭 selling porridge. I don't feel it's authentic Teochew. The food is salty and the fish is bland. Porridge is too hard. All dishes are cold when served.

Food quite tasty but pretty pricey as quantity is very small portion. Just not value for money and staff service quite unfriendly like we owe them a living LOL

Ban Heng Theme weddings with Ban Heng never disappoint. Discerning couples get to realise their dream wedding…. Interesting use of the word “discerning” which means having or showing good judgement. Consumers are being more socially responsible, ethical, green and eco-friendly as we move towards Fair Trade across industries. However, Ban Heng Group of Restaurants who is a veteran in the culinary industry doesn’t seem to be living up to its name when it owes suppliers money (at least 5-figures above). While it seems like Ban Heng Group of Restaurants are still in operation, the time-honored (老字號) branch at Chinatown has been discreetly shut down without any news because they also owe the landlord money. The restaurant made money but siphoned it out to other subsidiaries under the Ban Heng Group of restaurants and did not intend to pay their landlord and supplies. If you are thinking of going to one of Ban Heng Group of restaurants to eat, please think twice - whether the restaurants are paying their suppliers especially during times like this when everyone is trying to just make a living. Maybe the shareholders pockets are happily lined, if this is so, it only means that people who are trying to make a living becomes poorer while the rich gets richer.

Take away a salted egg, 1 person portion dishes as per photos, two porridges, it cost $9.50. Double confirm when paying it’s 1 person portion. Not recommended!
