Standard food acceptable, price on the high side due to rental. General a good place to eat, but Chinese staffs regularly shout across the room to remind customers to collect their food. A wet market joint but without fresh food , hopefully management can nurture and coach them further. Lol after reading further customers' review, found out that staffs' attitude were mentioned and now we know it comes from top, that's why below act like 1 too

We ordered popiah and requested for spicy. Item received was not spicy at all...we even told the staff preparing it that we want it spicy. When we brought the item back to the counter, she just gave us a lump of cold chilli from the chiller aside of the plate. When we clarified with the staff at the counter wearing red T-shirt,he mentioned that the chillie is already premix with the sweet sauce. This is something new for us, as we are popiah lovers. The filling inside the popiah is cold. Not recommended.

Ordered fried oyster and black carrot cake takeaway. They ninja charged me $0.60 for takeaway. Somehow it managed to take over 20 mins despite having no queue when I ordered. Queue calling was inconsistent and initially thought nothing of it because that happens sometimes at other places too. However, I soon realized my order was forgotten after approaching their cashier. So I had to wait again. While waiting, I noticed some disturbing behaviour of the cashier. They placed a boiling hotpot on the pickup counter and the customer was unable to place it on the tray so she waited for a whole 10 mins, only to be told off by the cashier that it's not hot and that she could do it herself. It was hilarious to see that. I also saw houseflies partying on other customers food before they were collected. Food portions were pathetic and taste was bad. Would not even recommend to bother stepping into this god forsaken place.

Placed my order at 1:10pm and waited for my food more than 30mins and not even done!!! Seriously!!! And I only ordered 1 dish, not 10!!! This outlet open up so big, they should have expected a huge crowd especially during weekend and hence they should arrange their staff accordingly!!! If can’t handle such a big crowd and orders, suggestion, do not open in such a big area. Just do take away is better in that case!

The food especially the cutlet chicken has always been ? nice. But today 13 Dec Monday, I bought at around 6 plus for dinner and saw a couple of houseflies. I have never seen it until today. It means the food waste is not dispose properly. So do check for houseflies before you queue up to order. Hope it is helpful to those who likes Encik Tan’s dishes.

Just had dinner at the new Encik Tan outlet here at Downtown East. This outlet is huge! It’s also bright and has a lot of nicely spaced out tables. Ordered the Salted Egg Chicken Claypot Rice. It was not bad, something new to try. Make sure to mix the salted egg and sauce well with the rice. Adding the orange chili will give it an extra kick. This place can get quite busy during peak hours.

Ordered via grab. $7.60 for hokkien mee. $6.20 for carrot cake. Taste is below average, expected more for that price. Will not be ordering again, as can get better quality for half the price at a coffeeshop.

Went here with my friend and she got rojak while I got carrot cake. My carrot cake was superb but her rojak was not nice apparently. She said it tasted stale? Also the man taking our order was quite rude.
