I was at the Downtown East outlet on May 2nd for lunch with my boy and a puppy in an enclosed carrier. The carrier was put inside a Fairprice trolley after our groceries shopping. We had no issues at Fairprice when shopping for our groceries. Hence, upon entering Segar, a waitress Mei Ling was very nice and friendly and served us well. Throughout our meal, my puppy was very calm and quiet. When I got up and headed to the cashier to make payment, I instructed my boy to keep a close watch on our puppy. However, he got excited and gave a small soft bark when he saw me getting up and walked away. At the cashier counter, another staff by the name of GRACE, upon hearing the bark, started reprimanding Mei Ling who was attending to my payment and another male colleague asking them why did they allow my entry with my puppy. I got annoyed and asked her if there was any problem. She then told me rudely that Pets are not allowed into the restaurant as it is a "Halal" certified restaurant. I told her that there wasn't any sign outside the restaurant stating that Pets are NOT allowed. If that is the case, they should have put up the sign to notify patrons with pets not to enter. She gave me a very unpleasant look and argued with me again that It being a Halal restaurant, Pets Aren't Allowed entry. I then told her off that there wasn't any indications to let patrons know about it. And I further told her that I will write in to the management and feedback to them about this issue. She again gave my a very unhappy look and walked away and even complained to another male kitchen staff about me. It certainly spoiled my day and I vow that I will never RETURN to this outlet ever again. Such a RUDE Staff !!!!!!

Very decent restaurant serving local favourite food with authentic taste. Value Meal at 28.80 which great for a simple couple meal. Don’t forget to get the Lime Juice which definitely make your meal unforgettable.

Ate multiple times at their old store, first time at their new store. Place was much bigger and brighter ? Their tom yam still taste the best. Really friendly and efficient staff (the older lady was great & kind)! Ordered the pineapple rice too but it might be abit lacking as pineapple fried rice usually comes with chicken floss but it didn't have that. but it still taste great! Good place to try their dishes, curry fish head. Overall good experience

First time trying - had Asam fish curry , fu yong egg And kang kong . I wanted to give 3.5 stars - as waited a while for the fish curry. Chose tail meat but still not a lot of meat. Pricey or usual curry fish price. One size only. It’s halal, so the egg has prawn n onion only - might as well call it prawn omelette. Kang Kong Samble was good. Only one pic as it was late . Rushed through dinner . Decent place.

Don't underestimate this zi char restaurant because they have a halal certificate! It is actually convenient to bring our moslem friends to eat chinese foods together in this place. The foods are generally above the average and the drinks are refreshing. The sweet and sour fish is on par with the high class chinese food restaurant. The taste is balanced and the fish slices are good. The only problem is only the large portion is actually quite small (so it is quite expensive). The crab meat beancurd is unique and delicious. It is basically a toufu with a crab meat thick soup. You must try it. The sambal kangkong is one of the best that I tried in Singapore. The crispy egg noodle and egg fu yong are average. The nasi goreng madness is below my expectation. The chicken satay and sambal is good but the nasi goreng itself is below standard (compare to the chinese's style or indonesia's style). The lemongrass tea is one of the most balanced that I taste in Singapore, light and refreshing!

Their curry fish head is satisfying and savoury. I would opt for the assam version which is more sour. The fish was soft and tender. I've been to this place twice and I would believe they are quite consistent. One of the better restaurants in Downtown East, in my opinion.

Like their curry fish head. The rest taste ok but portion rather small maybe due to chinese new year season.
