1 star for chicken tenderness and 1 star for fragrance of rice. chicken is somehow very smelly, like the flavour of rotten chicken (from experience). even when eaten with chili and ginger sauce you can still taste the stench of the chicken. however it is very soft and smooth. the rice tastes good but is too mushy for my liking. the rice is extremely moist and almost watery. this is the $5 portion and has quite a bit of meat so is quite worth.

Updated review (TLDR; it’s not the best) Latest edit: My most recent visit turned out to be the most disappointing by far. The rice was dry and lacked any prominent flavour. The chilli slightly too salty. The chicken meat came in good portion sizes but was chopped really chunky. The soup felt like it was almost purely MSG this time round. Overall, it wasn’t pleasant and I had difficulty finishing my meal - it doesn’t ever happen with chicken rice. - My third visit and this time, I have the time to savour each and every component of this “best chicken rice”. The chicken rice here is priced at $3 per plate ($0.30 for a small bowl of additional rice) and only Hainanese style chicken is served - no roasted options. The rice is fragrant but wetter and clumpier than how I like my chicken rice to be. The chicken is incredibly tender, then again, it might be the chicken backside that’s exceptionally tender. Chicken is flavourful and the sauces doused over adds to it without overpowering it. The soup is flavourful but salty with hints of heavy MSG use. Chilli has a slight kick but on the saltier side as well, it has a good consistency. Here’s what I don’t like about this place - it’s generally dirtier than the other popular chicken rice stalls. Is it the best chicken rice in Singapore as claimed by some? I think no, but maybe the best in the west.

Confirm plus chop 5 stars for the price, quantity and quality. The rice is super nice. For people who give 1 or 2 stars for this plate of chicken rice which cost $3, WTH? Come on, it is $3, and it is at least average u less you tapao and leave it to rot. So please be reasonable.

Getting worst to worst. Small portion even after adding extra rice. Chicken seem very dry and not fresh. The chicken wing tells it all. Got some feather stucked to the skin of chicken wing too. Rice is so oily. Overall it is a very lousy chicken rice imo

Chicken rice is delicious, selling at a very affordable price. Don't know why the stall owner enjoy throwing the plate when serving, the sound can be irritating, if people don't know think he got anger management issue. :x

Probably the best I have eaten. Rice is grainy and flavourful, chicken is tender as well. They serve it with achar, so everything complement together. Delicious!

The best chicken rice in Singapore. The rice is fragrant, chicken is tender & juicy. There are tomato, cucumber & pineapple in the veggie & they give more veggies than other places which I love!!! Good price also. Highly recommend!!!

Chance upon this stall selling chicken rice at Alexandra Village food centre. Have walked pass this stall quit a few times whenever i am here at this hawker centre. Decided to give this place a try since i couldn't decided what to have for lunch. there was a short queue when i was there but it moved pretty fast. The stall is operate by an elderly couple. Over here they served only the poached chicken and prices starts from SGD$3 for 1 person. For SGD$3, the serving is actually quite generous. Rice was flavorful and not too oily. i was given the chicken breast but i have to say that the meat was tender. The complimentary bowl of soup is actually not bad too! The plate of chicken meat also came with ahchar. Sauce was not too overly salty as well. Overall, i did enjoyed the chicken rice and would definitely be back.
