Tasty char siew and roast pork rice. Richly old school flavoursome, with smoke and caramel notes. Reasonable prices. There is always a small queue at this stall, but service is swift and professional.

The char siew is 4 star, roast meat 2.5 but pricing is 1 star. Maybe because it was lunar new year eve, she charged me $57+ for both meats for 6pax and 4 rice! Chat siew is fine but not the same standard as Roast paradise or HK 88 and cost more! Definitely my last order

Strange.. when I ordered online using whyQ the food was so good! but when I ate there at the store it was quite average. Had the char siew and duck rice for $5.50. The dark sauce is dark and taste ordinary. Sorry but it’s just not that good. Hope they find out how to improve it to how I experienced it when home delivered.

What happened to Lau Phua Chay? Used to like their char siew, it is now very very ordinary. Standard has dropped off a cliff with price soaring to $4.50 for a very simple plate of char siew rice. Is that why the queue has gone?

Old school ugly roast pork , char siew rice. Sauce and meat in lumps . However it's lumps of goodness. Char siew is done alright. Lean and fats are in good ratio. Sauce given has enough fragrance to it. Tasty. What I puzzle is the female boss being pushy for customers to buy their braised egg .. Otherwise this store done char siew rice alright , better than average outside. Chilli is also the right kind.

For years, I used to crave their charsiew rice and ribs with the thick wholesome gravy. USED TO. However, for the last 3 meals that I've had with them (I always try to give people a chance - we all have bad days sometimes), they have all been very very disappointing. From the overcharging of the duck wings, to the bare minimum amount of meat for a $5 charsiew rice (nothing else, just charsiew and rice). This time round, it was only me. No crowd or queue to rush to deliver, I asked for minimal fat charsiew twice, loudly, and they gave me heck of a lot of fat. Like a bonus amount of fat. With minimal serving of meat for the $5. The lady attending to me was also nonchalant about serving I hate to do this, but I'll need to rate the meals as a decline or complacency in standards. No longer worth the awards and accolades they were given. Today will be my last chance of three that I've given them. Striked out. ?

I find the uniqueness of their char siew rice is the sauce. The sauce kind of changed abit, it used to be slightly thicker and darker. Price increased but can understand why with all costs increasing even in wet markets and supermarkets. I find the Auntie ok, not very polite but not very rude either. I always request for lean char siew, sometimes I get them sometimes I don't. We don't pay for service charge, so don't bother much about service. Will surely come here for their unique char siew rice when in Alexandra area, even though they used to be a 4 stars.
