Heng Chai Chicken Rice - 163 Bukit Merah Central

I have been staying in this area for around 30 years, eating at most of the shops around the vicinity. I first came about finding Heng Chai Chicken Rice when I was having a haircut nearby, which I has also been my go-to hair salon for the past 20 years. Heng Chai Chicken Rice is a place that is easily accessible on the 3rd row of Bukit Merah Central Food Centre. A small plate is satisfying at $2.50. I always order the $4 worth because I love chicken rice & I must say they are pretty good on their oil chicken (油鸡). Sadly, they do not sell Roasted Pork which is one of my favourite as compared to Char Siew. However, I love their Char Siew as it is not too overly sweet & the sauce that is drizzled over the dish is decently tasteful yet not too overpowering. Each order of chicken rice can come with a refillable bowl of soup. You could also get some traditional chicken rice chilli or dark soy sauce over your chicken rice if you would like. Overall: I will always buy and eat a plate of the chicken rice whenever I am there. Recommend to try for first timer. The Stall Owner is also a nice man, I see that his children helps out from time to time too.

Very delicious juicy soy chicken rice at very reasonable price. Always sold out early about 3PM. Friendly stall seller. If you wanna have a bite, make sure to come early.
