β β β β β Probably one of the worst meals I have ever eaten in my life. I frankly don't know how they are still in business.
The rice that was served was cold. I don't think anyone would believe there is a tze char stall serving cold rice.
The hei zhor was served cold. The insides were barely cooked at all. When we informed the staff, they took it back, refried it, along with the half eaten piece that my friend had left on the plate.
The har cheong gai had no hints of har cheong. I would say old chang kee's chicken wings are probably 100 times more enjoyable than theirs.
The petai sambal was quite underdone that you could still taste the siapness and bitterness. When we provided feedback to the boss, he had the cheek to say that it isn't cooked as long for Thai style.
The Thai style fried sotong was also a failure. It wasn't crispy at all despite being a fried item.
After our feedback to the boss, he knocked $5 off the bill ($45 to $40). However, I hope they actually taste their food to check their own standards. I actually felt bad for some tourists who ordered from them because it might give the tourists the impression that Singapore as a food haven is serving this standard of food.

β β β β β Seeing some reports that there might be long queues and even incorrect or slow orders during meal hours, I purposely chose an Off-Meal Time to visit. There were no queues or crowds when I visited it on a Tuesday at 2.50pm. This is also specifically for me to observe the quality of a Cook when he is at his most Optimum and Relaxed Mood.
The Owner himself was alone tending the stall all by himself and is a very elderly gentleman who really was very friendly and kind. He was so friendly, he gently reminded me that I might have ordered too much for a Solo Diner. He really has a very nice Grandfather feel.
Ordered 3 popular dishes that I've read so far and here are my reviews for each of them. Because there were no other diners besides me, I got my dish served up nicely all within 5 mins. The kind uncle even gave me a packet of tissue paper for free which was a very nice gesture indeed.
Sweet and Sour Pork ($10.00)
The Classic Tze Char dish to order. I was quite surprised at how small cuts the servings are for this compared to the usual Tze Char renditions of it. They're so small sized, I reckon this would be easy for Children to enjoy.
It doesn't have an outer Crispy Bite layer but has a tender and somewhat juicy bite feel within. There isn't much sauce drenched all over and it is a much drier version compared to others. This is Sweet but not Sour, and the Sweetness is subtle and not overly Sweet like those that you see in typical Cai Fan Stalls. I also appreciate that there is some effort being made to cut some patterns in the cucumber pieces within too.
Sambal Sweet Potato Leaves ($6.00)
The Sweet potato leaves have a very darkish appearance. The dish is very oily and soft to the bite. While it has an initial spicy bite to it, it is actually not very spicy. It is also very salty and I believe the included ikan bilis contributed even more to the saltiness.
While this is an enjoyable side-dish, I felt it was too overly oily and salty and needs to be paired with alot of Rice to counter the Oiliness and Saltiness. Once paired with Rice though, it is Fantastic and your Rice will be gone so fast.
Shrimp Paste Chicken ($10.00)
Served 10 pieces and all are Mid-Wings, I feel this is the true ζηθ (Signature Dish) of this stall. While they have a somewhat dull and dry looking exterior, the meat within is very Juicy and so Flavourful. The best part of this dish is that the Prawn Paste is very subtle and not overly overpowering compared to others. It even has a very unique Smokey Aftertaste to it.
If you have eaten Shrimp Paste Chicken before, you'll know that the taste will tend to get jelak the more you eat it, but it is certainly not the case with this version. The more I ate it, the more I wanted to eat it! This particular dish PAIRS VERY WELL with some Ice-Cold Beer. Heck its so good, I feel you can just ignore the other dishes, order 2 plates of this and wash it down with some Beer. Its that good. This Dish is a MUST TRY!
-----------------------------------
In Conclusion, I really enjoyed the dishes I selected. Based on how they're made, I feel this stall owner focuses on mostly making Classic Tze Char dishes that are subtle in taste and not too Overpowering and ιε£ε³ compared to similar dishes you would have in other stalls.
What's truly admirable is that he was able to prepare 3 dishes all by himself within 5 mins even at his elderly age. As I do cooking myself, I can verify that this truly is a testament to the years of experience he must have had. It kindda feels like I'm watching a very experienced Master at work here. After I cleaned out my plates, I gave him a Big Thumbs-Up which brought a Lovely Smile to his face. ? ?
If you have the time, do come visit as soon as you can. Because the Uncle is very elderly, he might not be able to continue for long due to his age. Try to come at a off-peak time if you can so you can catch him at his finest.

β β β β β Honest zichar stall ran by an elderly couple. Decent but fluctuating quality, as husband and wife take turn to man the stove. Thai wife great in serving Thai style dishes like tomyam soup, Thai style fried pork, etc. uncle great in canton dishes.
Ordering system can be chaotic, especially during peak hours. Sometimes your order of 5 dishes only 3 made it to the table. Itβs ok, be more forgiving to these hardworking down to earth elderly pair. Just eat here with an open heart.

β β β β β Yummy zi char dinner on a Sat night. All was good except the hor fun was a little disappointing.
The fried rice was fragrant with wok hey taste. The fried sotong was crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside (really easy to bite and not the tough chewy kind). The sweet potato leaves were also soft and did not leave a bitter taste. The har cheong gai were well fried with a light batter and not overwhelming. The fried prawn balls were also lightly marinated.
Overall, we paid $49 for 6 dishes (all small) which we thought was quite value for money since we had sotong. It was not crowded on a Sat night. Recommended!

β β β β β Saw many good reviews. The cook was a lady. The elderly man took orders. Disappointed with the Hor fun. The kway teow was hard as cardboard. No wok hey no passion in the dish. The basil pork rice equally bad. Suppose to be dry but it was very wet. Lack of cooking skill. 3rd dish is the fried sweet potato vegetable. This dish was quite alright. Overall just $15.
