Great Japanese food tucked away at NEWest. Definitely worth a visit when you are here!

Ordered their Set A (Japanese Beef). Taste was ok, no wow factor. Presentation was underwhelming and can be improved. Price for the Set A was $12.10 after service charges - ok for a eatery in an aircon shopping mall.

So glad we can now dine-in at @mochi_mochi_cafe ? Don’t get me wrong, their takeaway bentos are really great quality too as mentioned in my earlier IG review! But eating the food piping hot is a different experience isn’t it? Tried one of the newer dishes - Tsukune ($12) during this visit. The minced chicken is so soft and moist! Love the addition of crunchy lotus root too! ? Check out my earlier review in IG #samxmochimochicafe ☺️ ?If you find my above review helpful, check out my IG @samlivestoeat for more foodie reviews! ?

Settled my dinner here, I could smell the curry from the outside of the restaurant & was their first customer hehe. Decent amount of variety on the menu. I ordered the Curry Udon. However they served me the normal Tsukune Udon? Anyway, I told the lady who took my order that this isn't what I ordered & soon enough, a male chef came out and clarified that he has served us a wrong dish. He apologised & served me green tea in return. Very nice & friendly owners, food is reasonably priced as well. Would come back if I'm craving for a hearty meal ☺️ Thank you!

Revised on subsequent visit on 6 Jun: The owner I recognised from before wasn't around today. Beef wasn't available today so we ordered the chicken teriyaki on promotion. The serving had 1 less side than advertised. We remarked about it to the young waiter who remarked that they had run out of 1 side but topped up extra on the other 3 sides - it didn't look that way to me but oh well. The egg roll was soft and well rolled and the chicken teriyaki tasted good, crispy skin and not overpowering gravy. But everything else was less tasty than our last visit 2 months ago. Sad to say it but it seems the quality has dropped. To illustrate, the same young waiter didn't look like he knew how to brew green tea, which is a waste of leaf. For this price point and location, we probably won't be coming back here again. Previously visited in Apr: This little gem in Clementi is a precious find. Don't let the decor fool you into thinking this is a food court Japanese stall. The owner is a nice Japanese gentleman who clearly takes a lot of care and pride in preparing every dish he serves. We ordered the Japanese beef set and the tori-namban set. All the servings are freshly cooked to order. The generous serving of beef was tender and perfectly marinated, and the crispy chicken was a delightful surprise with its vinegary garlic sauce. Side dishes are well made: delicious fresh bamboo shoots and konjac, fluffy potato salad with cucumber, and pickled vegetables. The green tea was refillable but honestly, I would have paid for it, the quality of the leaves was palpable. A lot of sincerity and effort went into our dishes, and you can taste it. I could have closed my eyes and thought I was back in a cozy eatery in Japan.

Home style simple Japanese food served in a nice and cozy setting. The prices were fair, but it would be nice if there were miso soup.

Quaint little Japanese cafe with warm homecooked food. My second time here and our family enjoyed it. Love the beef. O-cha was good too. They use real tea leaves, definitely not the love value tea bags you get in some other restaurant. Will be back for more.

If you are around West Coast and would like to have very honest homestyle Japanese food … Mochi Mochi is your best bet~! Anyone that had dined in those family run Restaurant in Japan will love this place. I had the pleasure of dining in and also ordered them to-go. Quality meets Quantity for both dine-in and Takeaway. Would love to have a sake session there soon ?
