One of the best tempura places in Singapore. From the tempura batter being perfectly balanced to the tentsuyu dipping sauce was all perfectly seasoned. Rice was cooked nicely with the addition of Kombu gives it an amazing umami flavour. Service was great too with the host always making sure our cup of hojicha was never empty.

Good find within Shaw Centre, there are now many eateries in Shaw Centre and Tenjin is one of them. Consistent standard and efficient as food are delivered fast upon ordering. Serving is also a good size, too much for my lunch in fact.

Best tempura I’ve ever eaten! I was never a huge fan of tempura but tenjin has changed me. The tempura was very lightly battered but yet crispy and the sauce was just nice - not too salty. My favorite was the udon! It was really Q and silky and absolutely delicious mixed with the dipping sauce. Would definitely come back!

A decent tendon in sg EXCEPT for the fact they don’t do Japanese rice well. Which is absurd for a big establishment like Le Amis which owns this. If they get a good quality Japanese rice, a good Japanese rice cooker, and even with regular tap water, they can cook a decent tasty Japanese rice. Just take heed from Ma Maison group. They know how to do the basic - Japanese rice - very well. It’s not even a cost problem. Japanese rice isn’t that expensive in sg. Plus a big restaurant group like Le Amis can surely buy in bulk discount. Very strange phenomenon for Tenjin to have lackluster rice. This frankly made me deduct 2 stars. I started with 4 stars and as I wrote, I felt it was more disappointing than I started out with and changed to 3 stars. The tempura itself was quite nicely lightly battered, fried fresh and crisp upon serving. It’s not too traditional as they have “spicy” or “regular” but in Japan there’s only one. For $14.90++ for the set with rice, salad & miso soup, 2 tempura prawns, some tempura veg, it’s value for money. Except the rice was a disappointing note. The truffle chawanmushi was nice though. Very earthy yet creamy and fragrant. But note there’s nothing instead the egg custard unlike some other types. $4++ is ok considering the truffle and the creaminess of the egg custard was cooked to perfection. The decor of the place is Japanese minimalist. It’s nice and clean look. But frankly, the staff through the window cooking the tempura, should be issued better uniforms. If the restaurant wants to showcase their fresh tempura and skilled chefs, the chefs should be well-dressed and clean, not like hawker stall owners. I understand that it’s hot in the kitchen, it’s a tough and thankless job but it’s the establishment that needs to maintain the image consistency if that’s the image they want to show. You can’t have a nice ambience, pretty food, price above food court, and then have hawker stall image staff… On the whole, there should be more consistency. I wouldn’t mind visiting again for the food but I won’t go and Q there for it. It gets crowded quite fast. And there’s only a few seats. Plus you need to know what you want to eat as they take order at the door before seating. So this might be unsettling for some diners who are more indecisive.

Fresh, lightly crisp tempura. Cozy, clean aesthetics. They don’t take reservations so be prepared to queue if you come at peak timings.

Nice little tendon place but only allow seatings for 45 mins max. They specialize in tendon and tempura sets with the premium quality type ingredients - crab legs, anago eel, white fish. Udon was especially nice as were the anago, crab legs and white fish! Only issue is that the food was oilier than some other tendon places I’ve tried. So you can feel it’s quite heavy after the meal.

I like the crispness of the tempura. It’s also fresh and light. Really like their egg and prawn tempura. Portion is just nice for me. We need to order while standing outside, before entering the restaurant, even though there’re many empty seats inside. It would have been five star if the reception staff standing outside is more polite.

We came by here for dinner. They have a menu board out front and you have to order at the door, but the service was friendly and the kitchen efficient. The tempura was okay — tasty and good value for money. There was a nice mix of items and the batter fried up crispy but light. You can get it as a ten-don with a choice of sweet or spicy sauce, or you can get it as a set with a choice of rice or udon and a traditional dipping sauce on the side. Both versions were good. It’s worth a try.
