β β β β β The picture on the signboard and the claims on their award-winning signature tendon are appealing, and made you feel it should be authentic. It was rather disappointing that it was not really what a tendon lover would ever expect.
The fried tempura has a layer of batter that is way too thick, and the ebi does not have the seafood umami. The fried vegetables still have the roughness rather than sweetness. Even fried seaweed was done terribly, and the portion was so little compared to what was advertised. Rice is NOT the typical Japanese rice you would like to have as it lacks the rice fragrance and the stickiness. Sauce is another let-down as it does not highlight the tendon at all. All in all, I could not find anything that is comparable to other tendon places in town. What a waste of money, and I would not return for sure!

β β β β β Bad experience. Didnβt pre-inform diners with young kids that no personal scissors or kids spoon or fork is allowed. We ordered then the staffs informed. Butβ¦. Itβs ridiculous as we have to cut the noodles to smaller bites

β β β β β I've been patronising at Akimitsu for it reasonably price and good Japanese food.
The food was previously prepare by Japanese chef but now it by local chef as I found out. And the quality of food has drop!
The " signature tendon " tempura was sloggy, not like before which was crispy.

β β β β β An unsatisfying dining experience. Went at after 2 pm in CNY and it was not crowded. Waited 20 mins for the tendon to be served and was given explanation that the frying would take time which would be reasonable except the fact that the tendon arrived cold.
In addition, for an award winning tempura franchise, the oil used to fry the tempura was definitely too old or reused too many times (the fried nori batter was dark coloured and tasted not 'clean' as typical tempura).
Service staff was helpful but for an eatery, food is key and this is where it disappoints. The ramen may fare better and appears to be the popular choice among customers.

β β β β β Love their tendon. For the price, the variety of tempura in their signature bowl is extremely worth it. The quality of the actual tempura itself is not the best, but at 15 bucks, it'll definitely satisfy you if you're looking for tempura.

β β β β β Known as the award winning signature tendon. But the tendon tempura was soggy. Food order took about 25-30 mins to arrive. Whatβs strange was it wasnβt 100% occupied. Thought it took awhile, the food should be hot, sadly, it wasnβt. Portion wise is considered huge, big bowl, but not satisfied. The chawanmushi was quite salty too.
May need to work on the food quality.

β β β β β It's now rename to Tokyo Shokudo which is halal with new menu.
went in with full high hope that signature tendon are as good as before.
Disappointed, the sauce was lesser than previous making it quite dry. Tempura Egg is not served and lesser vegetables tempura. Tempura prawn dough is super thick.
Oh, note that pickles and chawamushi are not served.
No for Tokyo Shokudo for me.
Still looking forward to dine at the authentic Akimitsu Restaurant.
