Hopped down to Kogane on a quiet afternoon! Service was pretty fast for an off peak timing. Seriously contemplated which don to get but decided to take a chance with Gyu don and a set meal with Chawanmushi and soup! Chawanmushi was pretty awful, a little too dense and spongy, similar to the steamed egg from cai fan auntie's stall. The soup was alright, kind of bland for my liking. The Gyu don however, was pretty damn good! The garlic chips really saved the day, adding flavor and texture to the dish. The beef was on the sweeter side, and plentiful. Overall quite palatable! The don was really a saving grace and I'd be back to try the other dons available! :-)

First time dining at this restaurant and I was super impressed! I ordered the negitoro salmon don and I added truffle oil. Super flavourful and very reasonably priced. Portion was good too, left me feeling super full. Our food didn’t take long to be served too. Service staff was polite but not overly friendly which is okay for me. Not sure why the other reviews gave lesser stars because of that. Will definitely be coming back again for this dish ?

Kogane yama used to be my go-to tendon place but after today, im afraid the food standard has dropped significantly. The rice tasted dry and unlike Japanese rice, which was what it used to be. Shrimp tempura also had a frozen taste to it. For the quality, $17.90 is way too expensive. Guess it happens to food places once they have franchises ? Probably never coming back again

I went there on a Wed for dinner at 7pm. I waited for more than 30 mins to get a bowl of vegetable tempura udon. I absolutely don't think it is worth that long. The tempura batter mix is too thick. The tempura is not freshly made. Udon is a bit soaky. Diappointed.

Expensive food, tasted OK and tasted like overpriced. Low value for money. Chirashi bowl is the best.

Visited Kogane Yama on a weekend evening and there was no one in the restaurant. We ordered a Prawn Tendon Bowl, Kakuni Don and Chicken Katsu Don. Everything tasted ok, but nothing special. Apparently they share a same menu with the adjacent Korean restaurant. Service is not the best. We were waiting at the entrance but no one attended to us until we rang the bell at the payment counter. Ambience was so-so. Remember coming here during lunch time three years ago and the quality and ambience was better then.

Yummy Sunday lunch. Unmanned front but zipped over to attend us to seats. QR menu. $2 bottomless cold Green tea drink. Attentive to keeping the beer flow checked too. Delicious mentaiko sauce. Korean metal cutlery. Would have appreciated serviettes. Enjoyed lunch at our pace. Good atmosphere.

Japanese cuisine is fascinating not only its tasty but also aesthetically pleasing. Any Japanese food has its own "displaying face" to customer when the dish has been presented. If you are selling Japanese food, please educate your staff about this. I feel disrespected when my meal was presented so rudely. In fact, it's not delicious either. The fried seaweed were cold and the rice was lumpy. I will not go again.
