Just like any other THW dim sum store islandwide, different vibe because it is located in MBS. All time favourite; Chee cheong fun / porridge / siew mai and their Signature char siew pao. Is a must order when visiting THW.

Nice cosy environment and very friendly services. But I feel the beef noodles standard is not there. The beef is too tough compared to other outlets. Other dim sums are fine.

After a few days of angmoh jiak, or mostly Western food, at MBS, we wanted some Chinese dishes, and opted for Tim Ho Wan, our old standby when we were based in Hong Kong. This was conveniently located near the hotel, and there was no queue at 6 pm. We ordered out usual, which included their signature paus, lotus leaf rice, cheong fun with char siu and also with prawns, siew mai and wontons in chilli sauce. While not bad, the dishes seemed to be less tasty than at other stalls, such as Waterway Point or i12 in Katong. The siew mai were the best dish, and were freshly steamed, while the signature paus and cheong fun were okay. The chilli wontons were not as good - the spice level was nice, but we thought the meat did not taste fresh. The lotus leaf rice was also a little off, we felt. Drinks of cold milk tea and soursop were expensive, for the portions, and were also a little diluted. Service was good, and the male manager and the female door greeter were friendly and efficient.

Michelin starred in Hong Kong, somehow I find the quality has declined post pandemic here in Singapore. Tim Ho Wan was started by Chef Mak Kwai Pui, formerly of the prestigious three Michelin starred Lung King Heen restaurant in Hong Kong’s Four Seasons Hotel, alongside Chef Leung Fai Keung. In 2009, the two chefs joined forces to open their first 20-seater dim sum restaurant in Mongkok. A year later, they would earn their own one Michelin star. More restaurants opened, each earning its own Michelin star. The accolades for serving superb food at affordable prices soon followed. Indeed, Tim Ho Wan was once called the most affordable Michelin-starred restaurant in the world! In 2013, Tim Ho Wan opened in Singapore and was an unbridled success. Its opening saw long lines at all hours and intense media attention. Perhaps not any more..

The dim sum was quite authentic. I had it many years ago in HK and the taste of the food that I ordered was good too. Some May said the standard dropped, but it’s still one of the good and authentic hk food to go. Wonton noodle was good with the super springy noodle. The alkaline taste soup was tasted like the one in hk. The wonton was full with shrimp which I love so much. Their signature was char siu Bao. It was so good. The taste of the char siu was sweet and meaty. We also ordered a stir fried carrot cake. It is different from what I had usually. It was stirred fry with chives and egg. The taste was good too.

Looking for a brunch spot and decided to go with Tim Ho Wan as it’s one of the more affordable options in the mall ? All the dishes were good in their own ways, fairly on the spot but really nothing to shout about or outstanding. That said, the server pretty much slide our food across the table rudely when they were serving us ??‍♂️ I definitely wouldn’t mind if they placed it at the edge for me to move towards the centre.

The food is so so. Their so called special.. is really just normal food. Their so called curry pork cutlet rice is nothing special. The onions are simply just anyhow cut.... The potatoes are bigger than my mouth. Taste is so so. Always the very simple trill dim sum The outlet is children unfriendly. I regret bring my family there... Other than the baby chair, they provide. Nothing else. The children utensils I had to change... Because not clean. They have no straw... I mean.. it is OK to save the earth. But for children below 2 years old... How u expect them to drink off the cup? No straw.. means everyone no straw. . Must think of children . . And.. for children.. You definitely need some napkins...To clean. When our own napkins to clean... Finish. We ask them.. They say have to pay.... Well...It is ok. We ask for table cloth to clean... Then they say cannot... So we have to a old T-shirt to clean... Cannot offer toilet paper....Cannot offer table cloth... Very difficult as a parent to dine in. The food is reasonable. . Each time we had stay cation at MBS. We sure dine here once... But now. I think we skip.

** Massively overrated ** Tried for lunch but found out it barely ok - the beef noodles were ok (quite bland, not very tasty), the steamed dim sum was over steamed and fall apart, the fried dim sum was oily, and the fried carrot cake was also on the oily side and not very tasty. The staff was friendly and quick but found it below other chains - like Din Tai Fung. Will not return.
