Had a great time here when I went as part of a lunch break on a Hidden Gems Sightseeing Tour. Highly recommend trying the Hong Heng Fried Sotong Prawn Mee (Michelin rated 4 years in a row) as well as some rojak, steamed pork buns and some soft Cheee Kueh (rice water cakes with Chai Ph or Radish / Turnips). Cheap prices, clean facility and manageable lines. Seems to be more local-serving compared to Hawker centers closer to the city center. Highly recommend.

Like the upgraded place with the somewhat romantic coloured lighting. The big mechanical fans were another plus factor that made the whole place much windy. Went there for the pig's organ soup. Prefer the good old version when the distinct sourness of the soup was one of the draw of the town. Missed the glutinous rice in the intestine tube. Sold out when I was there. Will definitely visit the place again.

I like coming to Tiong Bahru Market. The good food plus plentiful seating arrangements. Also, the hawker centre is very clean compared to other places.

In the core central region, besides the big five People's Park, Chinatown, Amoy, Hong Lim and Maxwell, one of the most famous food centre has to be Tiong Bahru, with many traditional and famous eats including quite a few Michelin recommended ones. Jianbo Chui Kway, Fried Sotong Mee, Bujian Tian Wanton Mee, Boneless Chicken Rice, Cantonese Roasts, Char Kway Teow, and the unofficial Lor Mee Capital with two famous Lor Mee and one New Fish Lor Mee. Though I personally feel the Lor Mee somewhat already lost their standards. There are also enterprising newcomers in fish soups, Nasi Lemak and Burgers by youngsters. Somewhat recently renovated, the ambience here is clean, airy, tables are well spaced and well organised. Usually a breakfast and lunch favourite hawker centre for the senior residents living around here, it is also a very popular lunch spots for offices and the hospital nearby. With all the attention given by the various food bloggers and influencers, many stalls here always spot long queues during peak lunch time and it can be hard to nab a seat. Weekends you can also find foodies travel here from everywhere to get some of the popular eats. Past two, most of the famous stalls will run out. Hence the best time to come for the famous stalls are around 10 to 11am. Recently Loo's Hainanese Curry Rice also moved in here from their coffee shop stall nearby, adding to the fray of long queue stalls. Prices are reasonable, and you can still find $3 fishball noodles and $1 large soya bean drink. Definitely a must come for true hawker foodie!

This is a perspective of a long time native of Tiong Bahru. We are blessed with 3-4 wet markets and hawker centres in this area. This iconic wet market and hawker center is one of the cleanest in Sg, with an airy, spacious hawker center on level 2. It is one we bring visitors as it is easy to navigate and most of the stall holders speak English. Prices are comparatively higher due the patrons who come from near and far, some in chauffeured Rolls Royce. Customers come here for the fresh seafood, fish, poultry, pork, vegetables and fruits. There are also the dry section that sells ladies fashion, household items to aquarium that sells tropical fishes. My market favourites:- Florist *No Signboard - the florist on the left as you enter the market run by honest Ah Teck & uncles. He has no frills packaging, not many exotic blooms but lowest priced fresh flowers and plants. Pork *Stall number 286 - Sunny sells the freshest pork, just tell what you want to cook and he will recommend you the right cut. Coffee Powder *Yong Seng coffee powder started in the market with good old local coffee powder. Has an online store if you need to pre-order for nicer gifting/travel. Tip: Best to come in morning before noon. Mondays are rest days for wet market. Hawker Center Level 2 is hawker center that has plenty of local food. Do not join every Q and everything that says ‘Tiong Bahru’ as we know most of the original ‘Tiong Bahru’ stalls have moved away or no longer in business. My go-to hawker stalls : Coffee Kopi Museum LC21 Soon Li - sugarcane Light Bites Jian Bo Shui Kueh Granny Pancake Teck Seng Soya Bean Tiong Bahru Tau Suan Rice & Noodles Tiong Bahru Boneless Hainanese chicken rice Loo’s Hainanese Curry Rice Lee Hong Kee Roasts Meats Zhong Yu Wanton noodles Tiong Bahru Braised Duck Hui Ji Fishball Yong Tao Fu RUYI Vegetarian Tips: Best to come for breakfast or early lunch. Few stalls open for dinner Mons & Thursdays are rest days for many hawker stalls I have done separate individual reviews for many of the hawker stalls. Do check them out. Enjoy your adventure at TBM & Hawker center.

I guess we came by when most of the stalls are closed for the day (between 2-3pm) and so, the food centre was not crowded at all. Though COVID restrictions have loosen up and dining out in bigger group is allowed, most of the tables still have the plastic netting limiting the seating capacity. I trust that they will be removed soon. Located on the second level, you can park on the third floor and walk down easily to the centre. Street parking is limited and lanes are tight.

Highly recommend this hawker centre. Has great big fans for airflow during humid and hot weather. Also, the centre is clean, the food is great. Defo worth having the chicken rice here. Highly recommended. Seems to serve the locals more than tourists.
