โ โ โ โ โ Prior to visiting, friends and I have commented before that this is like overpriced local food.
After visiting twice, I would say you are indeed paying for better quality Peranakan food and service (though the service level is uneven - more attentive at the Jewel store perhaps due to less patrons, and barely there at the Ion outlet due to it being crowded).
At Jewel, we had the dry laksa, buah leluak ayam, Babi pongteh, and sayur lodeh. They were rich and flavourful. But as it was shared between 2 pax, all that rich food became a little too much haha. Thus the dry laksa felt a little too cloying (jer lat) towards the end as it was too thick. But it was very yummy when I had it at Ion with 2 other friends and we were almost fighting for it.
Definitely worth returning for quality Peranakan food.

โ โ โ โ โ Very nice satay and kuey pati. The pork chop is very tender yet crispy. The fried kurobuta pork is soft and maintain its crispiness. Service staff is very polite and nice. Its a pity the gula melala sponge cake was sold out.

Beef rendang, dry laksa, kueh pie tee is a must order!
cuts the beef with a spoon/fork, with much flavor
laksa has a bit of heat yet very flavourful. has bean sprouts so can be requested to remove if needed.
kueh pie tee crust was still crunchy even sitting for more than 10mins.
which is usually soggy when purchased anywhere else
Recommend to consume with white rice, as all items has certain gravy that is very compatible with rice

โ โ โ โ โ Lovely restaurant if you would like to try peranakan food - was very impressed by the fish curry, beef rendang and the desserts (tapioca cake was served hot and melts in your mouth without being too cloyingly sweet!)
The service was also excellent! We indicated in the reservation that we had a birthday celebration, and at the end of the meal, they came out with a complimentary cake with a candle. And most impressively, they took a group shot of us, and then printed out the photo they took for us and framed it!!! We have to commend one of the waiters (filipino man I think) who helped to do this for us!
Overall great ambience for a dinner out with family or friends.

โ โ โ โ โ Opulent Interior With Tasty Nonya Dishes! Their interior feels very grand and has a very colonial feel perfect for a relaxing lunch/dinner. Their food is great albeit a very limited menu but is perfectly curated for an awesome Nonya cuisine experience. The serving is huge and can be shared by 2. Standouts for me are the Ngo Hiang and the Roti Prata! Service is great as well but make sure to reserve or come around odd hours like 4:30pm. The airport branch can be a bit off putting with some diners carrying their huge luggage. I hope they can leave their luggage somewhere to not ruin the dining experience. Aside from that, its always a pleasure for the eyes and my tummy when we dine here!

โ โ โ โ โ The Nyonya food at Violet Oon is the BEST Nyonya food I had tasted so far!
We decided to go for lunch to celebrate the 89th birthday of my MIL who is a Nyonya:)
The restaurant is spacious and very well renovated. Staff are friendly & when they knew it was my MILโs birthday, they served her a small cake & even took picture for us & frame it in a photo stand for her to bring home.
Most items are reasonably priced except the prawns & dessert dishes :D

โ โ โ โ โ The Violet Oon Jewel restaurant for Planakan cuisine. My friend went back to his home country for good so we used this restaurant for our last supper. This place is very close to the departure, so it's really convenient.

โ โ โ โ โ Tried for a quick dinner at Jewel - the restaurant is beautifully decorated and the staff is extremely attentive and polite. We had the dry laksa ($26) and the beef hor fun ($26) - you could get similar food for much cheaper in Singapore but the quality of the ingredients here seems much higher and all flavours are well balanced. We enjoyed both dishes - just felt the laksa portion could have been a bit bigger. Will visit again.
