My favourite chinese mutton soup stall Tasty broth made with mutton bones, meat and chinese herbs provides a comfy umami taste Owner procides ample ginger slices and chinese celery as nice condiments Usually go for the ribs and tendons combo...tendons comes with bones and one can suck up the bone marrow within ( like indian soup tulang ) Prices have kicked.up to $8/10...guess inflation is impacting hawkers everywhere

Fantastic soup, the aroma is very fragrant and the mutton has no gamey taste. You could tell that there are heaps of herbs boiled over hours in this soup. Because of the goji berries it made the soup sweet. Very underrated store. There could be more mutton but the price of $8 is justified because of the herbs. You can ask to add soup and they would top up for free!

It’s a good old stall with rich history and even richer soup. The mutton does not have too strong a flavor. The soup is warm and hearty, the perfect companion for a cold rainy day. It’s not oily or fatty too. The seasoning is balanced between sweetness, meatiness and herbiness.

Soup is sweet, not the herbal kind. Would prefer more meat. Additional dollar for rice. No queue on a weekday lunch. Accepts cashless payment.

I rarely review but I think Hong Wen deserves better. I'm glad I did not read the reviews before I tried. Its one of the best mutton soup I've had in years. Perhaps the last time I had it here was 3 years ago. Having it for lunch at 130pm, upgraded to the mutton ribs with extra ginger and coriander to go with it this round. The soup has a a slight herbal tinge and it's full of robust flavours and the mutton is not gamey at all. The meat is very tender and falls off the bones effortlessly. Not sure of the reasons for the bad reviews. Perhaps more focus on consistency can up the game

Good mutton soup, not gamey. Order mutton stomach soup + rice, felt price of $8.50 was ok. Chilli was good too. Satisfying on a cool rainy day! Aunty serves the food to table you're at, which is not common these days..

The mixed mutton soup with rice ($5.50) had hardly any meat at all. Just 3 or 4 thin small pieces and 3 big bones. The flavour was ok.
