Egg Tart(Cookie Skin)($2.30) It looks nice & big here but its not worth its value. Tart crust is thick, even the base too, egg custard filling is not that much too. Tart to egg ratio is unproportional. Buttery fragrant not enough. Egg custard not creamy enough. Hmm... Normal lor... Meh... Might be me. People suggest heating the Tarts up taste better. Polo Bun($2) Soft plain bready with sweet crumbly top buttery sugar crust. Other then the top part is good, the rest is ok lor. Suggest take the one with fillings

There's always extremely long queues at their outlets in basements of Ion and Bugis Junction, so I have always wanted to give it a try. 欢乐冰室,在新加坡都一直排长龙,真的那么好吃,好喝吗? Their Polo Buns look good and crispy on the outside. But if you get the plain ones without butter, kaya or anything, it is really quite plain. A lot of flour and not much pineapple crust. Their egg tarts are good but you need to ask for the fluffy handmade ones, otherwise the normal ones on the menus are not hand made. ? Their Iced Milk Tea is very rich and flavour. If you like it really hot, do tell them so otherwise may come as warm Milk Tea. I would say it is good and above average but not as spectacular as anticipated from the meandering queues. Cafes in HK and couple of the other HK cafes here are better, and less costly.

Maybe I’m pretty lucky as I went at a peak time (queued for 15 mins to order and 15 mins for collection) and got the egg tarts hot. Only cookie crust available past 2pm so if you want the pastry egg tarts you have to come at noon. The dough is thicker than what I would like and can’t really taste the eggy part but it actually pretty decent to me. Also I do like their iced milk tea - dense and just the right sweetness. Have not yet tried their polo but agree that it’s not warm as they put out trays and trays on shelves (probably over baked). Also, show HKTB 100 reasons to miss HK screenshot and get 10% off.

There is long queue here when I visited here. Personally, I feel that the egg tart not as authentic taste from Hong Kong compared with Tai Cheong. Yet the price of egg tart is higher too. For Polo bun, it's still acceptable at the moment. It's a bit over promised that it's came from Hong Kong popular brands that given high expectation for the food.

I’m shocked that the fish ball and curry sauce is served separately. Only little of curry sauce on the fishball. It should be marinated inside the curry sauce. For the curry, there is only salty and spicy flavours, not many curry flavor.

Long queue for the egg tart and Polo Bun. However, I don't think it is fantastic at all in Hong Kong standard, just average. There are some other better options if you crave for Hong Kong food in Singapore, e.g. 'Tai Cheong' for the Egg Tart, 'So Good' for polo bun. Or pay more for 'Tsui Wah', 'Honolulu cafe' or 'legendary Hong Kong'.

Finally came across Joy Luck, so I decided to give it a try. They have two types - crispy pastry skin and butter cookie skin. Tried both. In my own opinion, the egg tarts are definitely rated from decent to good, if you don’t compare it with the supposedly best one (you know who) in town. The pastry base is not as crispy and the filling not as silky smooth when compared to its famous competitor. The filling is also sweeter. Though probably not the best in town, it is better than most, I would say. So still worth a snack when you can get your hands on it.
