โ โ โ โ โ I took my Taiwanese relatives here for the pandan cake and Kueh and everyone was super impressed. The desserts were rich and flavor and had a good amount of moisture. The 7 of us devoured $30 worth of food at the table. We tried Kim Choo Kueh Chang in katong 2 days later and none of the kuehs there as good.

โ โ โ โ โ Poor service. There were 3 staff chatting behind the counter. When I told them I wanted to order a cake, one of them passed me a cake menu and a order form to fill it up, then she just walked away to continue chatting. I had to get their attention again when I completed what I could in the form (Was unsure of some fields), and instead of coming over, the first staff told another staff to come help me. I was the only customer in the store the whole time.

โ โ โ โ โ Famous local bakery that makes a wide variety of tasty cookies, cakes and desserts. The shop is Ion orchard is really small but has a wide selection. My personal favorites are the pandan chiffon cake, cork flake cookies, and small shrimp rolls.
Canโt really go wrong with anything here. Nothing that will blow your mind or fancy but good taste and quality.

โ โ โ โ โ Biggest RIPOFF chain ever ?
Overpriced everything, and totally fail in making Kuihs. The amount of kuihs they butchered is unspeakable. For example, the kuih seri muka - the green top was made into a watery jelly when it should be firmer, and the glutinous rice at the bottom need a proper amount of salt to pair well with the sweet top. But no, glutinuous rice is tasteless and combined with watery top, it just turned the whole kuih into a super sweet jelly. And why bother putting blue coloring on the rice when your entire kuih is already fail?
Funny thing is shops like these survive and even made famous in Singapore no thanks to Singaporeans' lousy tastebuds ?

The pandan chiffon cake is definitely the highlight with a decent variety of other pandan flavored treats.

โ โ โ โ โ Irreproachable...... irreproachable bad service and attitude, that is. Refused to entertain my wife who was asking enquiring on some items. Turned away after just two questions, assuming there will not be a sale.
With this attitude from both the service staff on duty, definitely will not get any sales from me. Looks like they survived well these 2 years.
Seems like poor service attitude has been a consistent trait at this outlet and that has brought down our good impression of Bengawan Solo.
