It’s good to see a Japanese Restaurant in the heartlands. I tried their Salmon and Crabmeat Spicy Mayo Donburi, portion is small for the price and I was a little disappointed that the crabmeat served is the imitation kind. The waiting time is not too long, and staff were extra courteous and attentive. Food quality and portion can definitely be improved to keep up with the prices.

Went for dinner today with family at new restaurant Gaku Sushi Bar at Northshore. Small incident when one of the staff actually drop one of the chopstick on me and thereafter onto the floor. Also drop all the garnish on the table while clearing the table. Manager came to apologise acknowledged the lack of training for his new staff. Offered complimentary pint of Kirin but was rejected by me. In the end, we were given 10% discount. The small initiative from the manager were deeply appreciated by us. The food is good and value for money. Must try the Ebi Tempura which have a big portion and prawn are fresh. Highly recommended. Kudo to the manager and hope that all resident nearby in Punggol and SengKang can support. Will definitely go back again for dinner sometime. Well done Gaku Sushi Bar at Northshore Plaza II. ?

Newly open at Northshore Plaza II, ordered salmon and crab mentaiko don, taste is good but portion too small. Used such a small bowl that's used for dessert. Still not full after having an $18 bowl...

We were surprised that all their dons had sold out due to delivery orders, and the boss was kind to offer us their last bowl of don. Their sashimi are fresh, the beef was also very well prepared. Overall a satisfying meal experience. Recomended.

Tbh, first impression wasn’t that great. Was told by the service crew that only bar table were available. Was assured by crew that she will move us to the next table available but she jolly well forgot about our request in less than 10mins. Nonetheless, service recovery was saved by Kenny who treated us with his warm hospitably. Being our first visit there, we went with his food recommendation. Our favorite was defo the unagi cream cheese and not to mention the yuzu frozen beer. Love it to bits. Tako wasabi was nice as an appetizer, but it might be a little nicer to go with some nori wraps. Beef has always been a go-to for any Japanese restaurant that I visit. But the Beef donburi here wasn’t up to par, requested for medium rare but sadly the beef was way beyond overcooked.

I brought my family here to try this restaurant after reading its decently good review. We tried 3 types of their dons (beef, bara chirashi & spicy salmon) and 1 of their rolls (unagi). Firstly, I'd like to commend that the service staff here are friendly and attentive. We didn't wait long to get our order through and the wait for food wasn't long. The food here is priced like many other casual Japanese restaurant prices, not budget-friendly even though it is in the HDB area, but the food here was very underwhelming. Being Asian and Japanese food lovers, we couldn't fathom the quality of rice served in our dons and rolls. There was no fragrance or sweetness in the rice, and they looked like a mixture of short & long grain (I could be wrong). The sushi rice was soft and clumpy, like it was overcooked. I don't think they used good quality rice imported from Japan and I also don't expect that from them, but there should be a QC on the quality of rice and it's doneness. Nevertheless, I hope the restaurant continues to improve on their food. Gambatte!

We came at around 8pm, there were not lots of customer, maybe because the mall is also new. The food were great, really fresh, especially the oysters, no funky taste, little more expensive than Ichiban but we think its reasonably price. Plus points for the great service!

Didn't take very long to get a seat. Prices are rather steep considering the portion. Looks like there's a lot of sauces on it. Rather flavorful and not for the fainthearted. I like it flavorful. Food is nice, but if you look at the portion, it's really little. Given the steep price, I'm not sure if it's paying for. Ambience is nice, and there's a bar-like setting further in. Japanese vibes for sure!
