It was featured on the TV so I decided to come and try. Ordered the $7 pork rib and prawn mee. Let's start with the prawn.. Prawns are okay, normal, split into 2.. Standard stuff. Prawns not very high quality or what, your typical prawns freshness probably not the freshest, but somewhere in the middle. Pork ribs are soft and tender. Easy to chew and bite off the ribs, but, the pork rib has this pork taste, that odour.. Odour can be removed if they pre boil the meat and throw the water away and reboil in a fresh pot. Pork lard; what's prawn mee without pork lard right? The pork lard is crispy, but i think its mixed with older pork lard which has this funky taste. Which is the game changer, and the factor why I downgrade this store ranking. One does not simply put not fresh pork lard into the prawn mee.... Soup is good. Very thick and rich in flavour. On par.. So, its not as good as what the TV said, imo abit overrated. I will not come back specially for this. I would rather go jalan sultan or Newton mei chin or ching prawn mee at jurong port Rd.

Nice bowl of prawn noodle. Ordered the soup version. The soup is tasty but on lighter side which should be due to them not using msg at all. It helps if you add the chilli powder in it. Prawns are fresh. Ribs are very tender and special thing is that it’s marinated w pepper. Personally I think they can do without the pepper as the pork is fresh and taste good on its own. There’s queue on fri afternoon and expect to wait ard 15mins. Recommend to come try!

There seems to have 2 stalls with the same name. A number of other reviews here also point to a different location at Hong Lim Food Centre, when you browse the name of store on Photo. I’m not sure if they are related. This review belong to; Hong Lim Food Centre and Market 531A Upper Cross St, Singapore 051531 Had a go for a $4 prawn noodle dry with a separate bowl of prawn broth soup. The dry version is not as tasty as I had expected but glad to find some crispy Fried Pork Lard. The soup taste mainly from prawn shells and pork bones, no MSG taste. Things appeared freshly made. Counted 5 pieces of halves smaller prawns with tail shell and 3 pieces of pork slices. Added their chilli powder and some cut chilli into the prawn soup broth will bring out a β€œWOW” on the taste. Will I be back for more? It’s a β€˜YES’. I would recommend soup based prawn noodle mixed with rice vermicelli. Soup can be top up for free. Update The soup version for $4, consisted of 5 halves prawns, 2 small well cook pork cuts and some smaller bits of pork. Mixed in serving are yellow noodles and Beehoon. Soup is pleasant sweetness from boiling prawn and pork, no hint of MSG.

Good prawn mee with generous amount of liao at a reasonable price! Soup has the prawn and the chilli taste, but is just not as thick as I usually like.

No doubt can be my top 3 prawn noodle. Soup is super nice. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and the auntie is super friendly. Ensure that all my take away have chilli, chopstick, soup and soup for dry version. ??

Tried this stall because my usual go to for prawn mee, Ming's prawn noodles, was closed early. Turned out to be a pleasant surprise as the soup was great and the pork, wow especially the pork was delicious. Maybe now I'll switch to this stall instead of Ming's. It also helps that the uncle and auntie are very nice people. They also sell their chilli powder if you are looking to try and do a homemade prawn noodle

In essence, this is a fairly traditional old school prawn mee. I had written a review some years back but I am not sure why it's gone. To date I don't think anything's changed. Do not come expecting the next thick prawn umami flavoured prawn noodles soup but instead, think of it as how in your primary school tuckshop, you managed to get a bowl of hearty prawn mee for recess. It's stated in bold here no msg. I will back that claim. Also the soup while briny comforting, is not too high in sugar or salt. So you can enjoy your Kway Teow Mee in good, heart warming comfort if you're watching your blood pressure. My bowl of $4 (seriously who sell prawn mee at this price these days?) came with a healthy serving of crunchy prawn halves, lean pork slices, kang kong and bean sprouts. For me it's good enough for old school prawn mee. The fried shallots can use a bit more flavours, but I am happy as it is. $4 Value eat without a queue. Oh and I added on a dollar for pig skin. Nicely done chewy QQ without the extra fats. A score at that. Use a bit more chilli Padi and chilli powder if you need to amp it up. Otherwise, a good bet on rainy days especially, without a hour long queue at Hong Lim if you're after the famous stalls.
