Purposely made my way to this place after my work at the west side, environment was clean and ordering could be done at the ordering machine if you want to pay by card. But first need to find your table and the table number then can order as items will be delivered to you while you wait. Many items was sold out so I decided on most safest order their roasted chicken. Well less one star was due to the portion of the quarter chicken was disappointing, the chicken was not tender and Chilli was diluted I would say most coffee shop chicken rice would have more stronger taste for rice and more tender chicken. Not deducting one more star is because the staff there serving were very nice.

The food is nice, portion is large, value for money. The curry chicken is tender and the curry is fragrance. The dory fish portion is large too. The kaya toast is nice, made from gula melaka. Steam chicken is tender and sauce is nice.

Opening in December 2020, The Hainan Story is a 5-in-1 multi-concept modern casual dining eatery specialising in traditional Chinese Hainanese cuisine. While Chicken Rice might be the most famous of such dishes (and is available here), The Hainan Story brings to the forefront other traditional heritage Chinese Hainanese dishes, prepared using treasured family recipes; a tribute to the early Singapore settlers. . Ambience at The Hainan Story resembles a modern coffee shop; bright lit and clean, with heritage-inspired furnishings of eclectic coloured wooden chairs and marble-topped tables, spaced neatly apart within the air-conditioned interior. The kitchen facade is designed to visually resemble the streetside shophouses of old. . Service at The Hainan Story is nothing like a coffee shop; staff greet and seat guests expeditiously when tables become available, and they helpfully offer guidance with the electronic ordering process. Menu descriptions are clear and supported with pictures, so staff product knowledge usually isn't tested. Payment is made electronically. . Food at The Hainan Story is as if the place was a Chinese Hainanese coffee shop, offering heritage dishes under 5 different brands. From classics like Chicken Rice, Hainanese Pork Chop, and Satay, to uncommon favourites like Pumpkin Porridge, English Oxtail Stew, and Salt Baked Chicken, dishes are as authentic and delicious as they come. Served in large individual portions, also suitable for sharing. Prices are comparable to a cafe, budget about SGD $23 per person for a meal here.

Food here is really good and it doesnโ€™t taste like your typical hawker food. Every dish has some level of hainan authenticity to it. Portion size is huge given its price point. Because of the down lights and being located near the entrance of the mall, it can get very warm while dining.

A variety of Hainanese fare. The curry rice is really tasty and side dishes are done to perfection. Huge portion so itโ€™ll definitely be a hearty meal. Tried the porridge as well but was not impressed. Not the most value for money option in Hillion but it offers a comfortable environment for a quick lunch with colleagues. The food is also pretty safe cuz they are all pretty well done.

First time having my Breakfast here and was pleasantly surprised they have just started a bakery outlet. The staff at the bakery were very polite and patient (unlike the aunties at the front counter selling chicken rice). It as very interesting choices of buns and nonya kuehs. We tried the "yi buah" ( i think it is called that). The fillings of peanuts and coconuts were not outstanding but quite good. Not overly sweet. At least there is something interesting for customers to try out instead of the usual bread/buns. We also tried the curry chicken potato bun. Sadly, there was no chicken. Only curry and the potato. It was a weekday morning and it was not crowded.

Have been dining-in and takeaway from Hainan story on several occasions. Great tasting variety of food at affordable price. 3 mods of ordering: Ordering kiosk, QR code on table or just simply walk up to cashier to order. Trying their Curry Bun + bacon&cheese bun for the 1st time. Curry is flavourful however the bun (using sourdough) seems abit tough after sometime. Hence jaw will ache from chewing after awhile..haha.. Freshly baked Bacon&cheese bun is nice as well. Of course their coffee with butter is a must try!

Good place for simple meals. Food is good, though not excellent. Fried rice took some time but was hot, freshly cooked. Curry rice came immediately, not as hot nor fresh. Portions are decent. Comfortable place. Pleasant service. Prices are a bit more than what I would like, but still quite reasonable.
