โ โ โ โ โ Aburi chirashi bowl is a must-have! Thick cuts of fish nicely flamed over a bowl of (not too much) rice... heavenly!
Steak was perfectly prepared, and salmon miso soup was umami and not too salty.
Soft shell crab roll was good but not outstanding.
Will return for more!

โ โ โ โ โ Had a belated birthday celebration for my friend here we went on a Friday and it was packed! We waited for about 30-40 minutes before we could get a table for 2.
Heads up that they will only let you in when all of your guests are present for the meal so those with perpetually late people in their parties be ready to wait till that friend comes.
My sister brought me here previously and I really enjoyed their Chirashi bowl so I ordered the large portion of the Kaisen Chirashi Don ($28.90) for my friend and I.
What my friend loved about it was the super thick cuts of sashimi. Usually the sashimi slices are thin and limp but as you can see from the pictures this is not the case at all with this place. The pieces are thick, firm and extremely fresh.
We also thoroughly enjoyed the rice. They actually use sushi rice here and it was yums and they are very generous with their wasabi and ginger slices too!
We also ordered 2 rolls one california maki ($11.90) which we absolutely loved and devoured and one more recommended by their staff is the dragon roll ($25.90). I usually hate eel but this combination was excellent. Its a breaded shrimp roll topped with avocado and eel and I will absolutely order this again when I am back.
Tip: always ask the people working there for recommendations. So far 90% of the time I was always impressed with their recommendations.

โ โ โ โ โ Food 4/5
Staff 5/5
Price 4/5
Ambience 4/5
Overall 4/5
Food was great. But the Mentaiko oyster was EXTREMELY salty. Probably a good idea to have plain rice to go along with this dish. Otherwise the other rice bowls were great.
Staff were attentive and polite. Was served by Yu Yun who initially told me oysters was sold out. But she checked with the kitchen and got back to me that oysters were still available, good effort!
Price is expected for such Japanese establishment. Place can be very noisy at times though.
Will return again for the food as it is really tastely!

โ โ โ โ โ Service was pretty fast and good. The sashimi was fresh, the beef cube was nicely done up. But both the soup was a bit too salty. Overall experience is good.

โ โ โ โ โ Read online of The Sushi Bar at Level 5 of Ngee Ann City about its yummy and affordable menu, so a visit was made with Empress Dowager. The menu was well stocked with many typical Izakaya food and made one salivate as one looked through the menu.
When the food finally arrived it was a meal of disappointment. While the food was not poor, it was not mid grade either. Coupled with the more than healthy prices, the price to value correlation was very poor.
The only saving grace from the meal was the Hamachi Kama or Grilled Yellowtail Head. It was well grilled and right priced. This would be the dish that triggers a return visit, if any.
General Verdict: Items are generally acceptable but the price to value correlation is poor. The Sashimi here is overpriced too. Other Japanese restaurant chains specialising in Sushi and Sashimi can provide better quality and quantity at lower prices. Docked 1 star from the deserving 3 stars due to their high prices.

โ โ โ โ โ Not the greatest experience for the price I would say. Yellowtail and tuna sashimi had a fishy after taste. Salmon sashimi on the other hand was perfect, fresh and extremely fatty and flavorful. Eel sushi was just ok. Same goes for the salmon aburi maki. For someone reason the bluefin tuna sushis weren't really mind blowing. En sushi would be a much better choice quality wise for a similar/cheaper price.

โ โ โ โ โ Craving for Japanese food and found this place in Taka. Canโt make reservation so wr decided to go for early dinner. Good choices of food. We order 3 kind Sashimi, hotate sashimi, edamame, shishamo, ika geso karaage, sashimi salad salmon aburi and paired with hot green tea ($2.50). Two pax and total bill was $121.60 including tax and service charge. Luckily we came early, 20 mins after seated, there was a long queue. Tables are very close to each other, felt a bit uncomfortable due to high cases of covid. Serving time was fast and food was ok.
